Gregory Stout 45 Unisex Backpacking Pack, One Size Fits All, Compass Blue

This pack is comfortable and great. It’s back panel and hip belt are padded just right. I’ve hiked with a 20 lbs load and it was more comfortable than my Gregory 18 Miwok day pack loaded with 10 lbs. It distributes the weight well. I’ll probably use this as my day pack. It is a bit small for all the gear for an over night in cool (autumn) weather. Fitting my 30 bag and a bear canister is tough.

I wanted a comfortable, durable, lightweight, full featured pack that would carry enough gear for 1-3 night camping trips. There are many like this on the market, and many that are lighter, but cost a lot more, or cost less but have less features or arent as durable. This pack was the sweet spot for me. I've trialled it carrying enough gear and food for a 2 day camping trip, including 4 litres of water. On a 10 km hike with steep climbs to above 700 meters, carrying just shy of 30 pounds, it performed perfectly. Very comfortable hip belt and lumbar support that distribute the weight well, height adjustable shoulder straps that let you adjust it to your precise size, a very well thought out top loading cinch system that makes getting in and out of it a breeze. There are decent mesh pockets on the sides for bottles and maps, but they are a bit difficult to access when its on your back. The large and sturdy mesh pocket on the front of the pack holds a jacket easily. The hip belt pockets are decently sized and easily unzipped and closed again. All in all this is a very decent, well made, and well thought out all-rounder. If you're looking for something in between the features and durability of the bomb proof but very heavy cordura military type packs, and the very light but very minimalist and often incredibly expensive ultralight packs, this is probably as good as it gets.

I love that this pack is adjustable for torso length. Majority of packs don’t fit me or don’t distribute weight correctly for me. This pack felt like a dream that didn’t seem possible. Good fit, good quality, good pocket placements, feels durable without the bulk, and a decent price point as well. I would definitely go with Gregory again and would recommend this model.
