Why wouldn’t you have one…
I bought one of these for myself and a friend of mine (so that is 2 now) because it seemed to be too good to be true for the price and features. How bad could it be?I bought six more because it will make an incredible stocking stuffers.

My new go-to labeler
I've been using a Brother thermal label maker for years that still works well and they still make labels for it but it is very clumsy to use because of the tiny LCD screen and keyboard. Being able to use a tablet to prep the labels and send to the printer was very attractive so I ordered this MakeID L1 unit.Installing the app is pretty straight forward and I can confirm it works on a newer Android 13" Tablet running Android 13.The print quality is okay for a $20 thermal printer but this model is currently $30 which prices it on the high side for printers of this type. The description says that it's compatible with 9, 12, and 16mm tapes and the machine comes with one roll of 16mm continuous label tape. The manufacturer wants us to purchase their label tape but at $10 a roll I'll be purchasing the standard D30 tapes instead at a much lower price. The label length is very selectable all the way up to continuous which is very convenient, but of course you need to purchase the correct D30 label tape (available on Amazon).Regarding the hardware (the device itself), I do like how it opens and loads. And it's very easy to start the tape at the correct position for minimum wastage. It's also a very nice compact size and seems to be made well. The app itself is not very intuitive but does have some nice features when you spend a little time figuring them out. I do like that it has letter kerning for best fitment. And I especially like the fact that it saves a copy of everything you've printed and allows you to recall and edit it in the future for a new print. It also allows you to save a print before printing in case you don't have the correct labels at the time but want to get the layout completed. There's a very large selection of fonts you can download, and it also has a library of icons and borders. All in all, it's a nice printer. I think it will be a great printer if they reduce the price point a little so it's more competitively priced.all my best,dr

My new label maker is here! - updated!
I have always wanted a label maker. Since I was in the 7th grade I had wanted the old time label makers that you would have to punch each letter in. Tedious and not very good looking. What I have now is world of difference apart.I wasn’t sure if what I was getting was going to be as nice as some of the expensive ones. You can really spend some dollars if you want. And I understand that it costs money to have a nice label maker, just like anything else that you expect quality from. But once I started reading the instructions, which are amazingly simple by the way, I felt much more at ease. Setting up the label maker was simple. Setting up the program on my phone was even easier. Now I’m ready.I had zero issue with setting up the program on my Google phone. Easy and efficient. It took me a couple try’s to get everything centered on the tab, the correct font, etc., but I’m not super technically inclined. But now I have labels! In fact I’m so impressed with this maker that I purchased a hard case, extra rolls of labels, and when they arrive tomorrow morning, I will have a way to keep my label maker organized and safe. My extra rolls look like they will fit into the hard case as well.I wanted this label maker for my new pantry that is on the remodeling list. It will help me to keep food items from spoiling, from running out of the exact brand and type, and also to help me find items quicker when cooking from a recipe.I will be adding a few pictures after I find the exact way that I want my labels. I haven’t had time to do that yet, but I will after I have a couple of hours to make sure that I am getting what I want on the label. I don’t want to make a bunch of practice labels since I only have so much tape. The tape is about $5/roll. It looks like I can get tons of labels out of each roll of label maker, but I want to make sure. This is a huge and exciting thing for me and I want to do everything perfectly. I want to get things done fast when I begin working on new programs. I have zero doubt that I will have them ready in the morning. Just ran out of time tonight.I added my first label - POPCORN! Now I can label my large Mason jar with this label. Now on to the rest of them.
