We use a gravity-fed water filter at home, and were excited to discover the new Boroux brand recently, as they seem to be the main (possibly only?) supplier of FDA-approved filters for such systems at this time. Now that we are accustomed to filtered water at home, there is no going back. We drink more water than ever before and know that the water we drink is pure and healthy, so I was very excited to learn that Boroux now offers its gravity-fed filtration system in a small size. We travel for log periods of time in our Airstream, and this little guy is just PERFECT for taking on the road with us so that we can get the same pure water wherever we go. Note: The Boroux filters are approved for municipal water only, not well water or other (natural) water sources such as streams or rivers. This is fine for our purposes, as we stay in campgrounds with hookups. But that's important to know if you are looking at one of these for taking camping off-grid. Would it do the job? Maybe. Probably? Is it FDA-approved for that purpose? No. There is a process for priming the filters, but it's not difficult at all, you just need to set aside about an hour to do that and also to prep and test your system per the instructions. It comes with everything you need to get it set up, save for two clear glasses. We used mason jars. This little guy is the perfect size for us, as it produces about the right amount of water for myself and my husband to get through one day. It is easy to refill, as we can just tuck it into the corner of our sink and fill it with water and then quickly transfer it to the base. You do not want to set it down on the filter bottoms, so if you don't have an extendable sink sprayer, you may need to set it on a bowl to elevate it while you fill. Or you could just carry water to it with a pitcher. All of the components are really nice quality, and the stainless steel finish looks smashing with our modern Airstream silver decor. We have heard for years from fellow campers about how much they like their gravity-fed water systems, and now we see what the hype is about. It has a small footprint but gives us confidence that wherever we travel, we will have the purest, safest water to drink. Absolutely love it!

I'm usually very happy to drink tap water, as it tends to be extremely safe to drink, and is highly monitored (in *almost* all U.S. cities). However, since I've moved to Tucson, I've found that the taste is a little off. I've had my water tested, and it's perfectly safe (no nitrates, nitrites, sulfates, or metals. Just a little hardness and carbonates, which aren't unhealthy). Thus, I decided to order a filter system. I had a friend who ordered a similar filter system (with the dual carbon cartridges). I didn't opt for fluoride filters, since I'm happy with the fluoride ion, and they do nothing to remove the actually dangerous fluoride compounds (PFAS and other organic fluorides). Installation was quite easy. I was particularly impressed with the little tool they included to help you initially flush the filter. It's a little rubber sleeve that slips over your faucet head and connects to the new filter, and works very well. As a contrast, when I helped my friend set up her filter system, the tool they provided was just a thick rubber gasket, and you had to hold the faucet pressed up against it, and we ended up squirting water all over the place. I also liked the fact that they included a dye test to check for correct installation. As for the results, I find the water tastes *much* better after it has been filtered, which is really the main reason I bought it. The carbon filters really seem to do an excellent job at filtering (as the dye test shows), so even if taste is not your main concern, you can be confident that any nasty stuff is filtered out. There are two things that bother me a bit about the system. The first is that there isn't a water level gauge for the bottom reservoir. If you want to check if you need to refill it, you need to lift up the entire top reservoir and peek in. The other minor nit I have is that the spigot is a little slower than I'd like. It's not ridiculously slow or anything, maybe 15-20 seconds to fill up a 32oz water bottle, but it could be faster.

Very good product. It holds about 1.5 gallons and can be folded up for travel. It comes with a nice carry bag. Side note. The first one I ordered had a defective filter. Amazon was great. They had a new complete unit at my door in 24 hrs. Second works great. Past all the testsin about a half hour. I bought it through Amazon because of their great customer service ;)

Wish I could give zero stars. Not my thing to post. Super experience with A. But this. The Boroux water filtration system for 387$ is an affront to mankind’s progress. Cheap cylinders requiring full assembly for spigot, filters, nuts and bolts instructions made no sense! But it gets better. After all that… a red dye test at the end. That’s a test for bacteria! Not sure whether to throw in the trash and take a hit or go ballistic. Sorry for the rant. My personal experience with this garbage? Take a pass…

The filtered water is excellent; however, I noticed I have three very small paint chips on the top of the black model. Since purchasing a couple months ago it has been babied at home so I am not confident it will hold up well during RV travel. The chips aren’t where the lid makes contact so I don’t know. The black is sharp looking but should have gone with stainless.
