Woodworking Review: flattening and sharpening chisels
I recently purchased a set of Aldi chisels recommended by Paul Sellers. Before putting these chisels to use, I had to flatten the backs and sharpen the bevels. I have tried other methods (sandpaper and diamond stones) and wanted to try whetstones. I was introduced to this particular whetstone on a Facebook sharpening group. The whetstone was competitively priced and had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. The stone came with a couple scuffs on the surface but this did not effect its use. I soaked the stones as instructed and then began flattening the backs with a course diamond stone to remove the bulk of the high spots, then I switched over to the whetstone to remove the scratch marks and get it to a mirror finish. I was surprised how quickly and easily the stones cut into the steel and remove the scratch marks. My chisels backs went from having course scratch marks to a near mirror finish really quickly. These stones work great and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try sharpening chisels with a whetstone.

Excellent universal stone
Love the combination of grits! I used it with water and it worked great. The rubber base did a great job of keeping it from sliding. The included bevel guide was very helpful at maintaining the proper angle while sharpening. I used it for knives, plane blades, wood chisels and some other carving tools - it worked great for all of them! Very happy with the results. Would recommend using water as a lubricant first - it flushes the stone well. (Once you use oil, you can't go back to using water very effectively). And also - this is a good value for the money. Will recommend this stone to my friends looking to sharpen their own tools.

Good value
I purchased this waterstone (3000G/8000G) as a compliment to diamond stones I currently use. Ordering was easy and delivery was timely. The stone was in good condition when opened and the packaging was very good. As a precaution, I drew grids on both sides of the stone, and used a flattening stone to ensure they were flat. Of note, both sides of the stone were high in the center and required some flattening to match the perimeter. Also, the flattening stone removed quite a bit of material on the 3000G side. Not as much on the 8000G side. I chose a used Stanley 220 block plane (recently purchased) as the test case for this stone. Prior to using this waterstone, I did some initial backside flattening and blade honing on 300G/1000G diamond stone. Then spent the next 20-30 minutes with each side of the waterstone. I then did a few passes on a leather strop to remove the burr. No issues with the flattening and honing, and a nice edge was created. After some blade adjustment, nice shavings were the result when planing poplar, walnut, and hard maple. After about 20 minutes of use, the blade required additional honing. As a check, I did the next round of honing of the blade with a 4000G/8000G diamond stones. Again, a nice edge was formed, with the burr removed via stropping. After blade adjustment, excellent shavings were the result. In my opinion, thinner and more consistent shaving were created after using the diamond stone. The edge also stayed sharp for a longer period of time. Given the price of the waterstone, as compared to the diamond stone, it provides a good user edge, and is a reasonable value. You will pay 4X for a good diamond stone, so it is a decision of price vs sharpness and edge longevity for the user.

It is a great value for the price you pay for this stone
I purchased this stone because it was not the cheapest, but far from the priciest. There is nothing more I can say about the non slip rubber base, the packaging and the no dought quality. Just looking it over, you can tell this is not a cheap product. It is a great value for the price you pay for this stone. You can hold the knife with both hands maximizing control of the angle and the pressure applied. Work back and forth slowly working up a fine slurry, then draw the blade back on each side. With the 400 grit it is easy to reprofile almost any steel. Took me about 5 minutes to reprofile a S35VN steel blade. Then do the same thing with the 1000 grit side, water and slurry! Your blade should now be ready to strop. My results after stropping was a hair popping edge that had no problem performing a free standing push cut with fine magazine paper! Get one, probably last you a lifetime. I love mine!

Nice stones made of great material and shipped fast
First off, I want to commend the people at Trilancer for the speed of the shipping. Getting an order in 2 days for something as mundane as a waterstone is a nice touch. Secondly, the product itself is excellent. I let it soak for about 20 minutes or so and ran a couple of blades through my usual process using the 400 grit and advancing up to 20000 (different stone...). The 400 and 1000 grit sides worked beautifully! The dross was solid and clean and the wear patterns were easily taken care of. The materials used stayed wet and held together nicely. Well done! I will buy from them again.

I was little bit sceptical about this particual product as I'm paying a premium price for a dual grit whetstone as good quality is rare over here. To my surprise it was very good quality and sharpness that comes out from this stone is of very good, you can literally make razor sharp. Although it needs water but it doesn't sucks too much water which indicates its of very good quality. If I said anything wrong then pardon me as I'm a beginner in sharpening knife and just sharpened my first knife which is a very cheap ₹150 knife to razor sharp.

This is the kind of whetstone that you have to soak before using. It's good at refining the really dull knives to become pretty sharp but you'll still need a finer whetstone like a 4000/6000 grit or a leather strop to really get to those slice through paper levels. I should have read up on that before buying this but this does the job it is meant to do.

It is ideal for fine edge repair, such as removing small chips, sharpening dull edges. The stone was clean and well-shaped when I received it and has a nice heft to it. It comes with a rubber base to ensure the whetstone remains in place while sharpening. The stone holds well. The blades seem to stay sharper much longer. I would recommend this for a good stone for moderate use.

It's one thing for a company to claim that it offers excellent after sales service, it's a whole other thing when they actually have to respond to client dissatisfaction. In this case, the seller has EXCELLENT after sale service. I'm very pleased on how they handled the situation after I got a defective item and how fast they shipped me a new one. It is to be noted that the new item functions perfectly. BELOW IS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW OF THE ITEM FOR INFORMATION ONLY This is just my personal experience, I'm hoping that others don't have the same issue. But the 8000 side had quite a few imperfections / extra black grit in the stone that would appear, so it would make sharpening a nightmare. The 3000 side was perfect and I was able to achieve really good results.

I used to have 3000 grit stone but this is much nicer! I've manage to get my cleaver and knife to slice through paper like butter easily after 10 to 15 mins of workout. Good stuff. Giving it 4 star as the edge have chipped when it arrived, doesn't affect the function but its chipped..
