Produces nice crimps, slight quality control problem
Although the first copy was slightly crooked (see the first two pictures), the second copy was nice and straight. Other than being crooked at the working end of the tool, it looked well made, so I ordered another one to replace the first one.The crimper worked well, creating a lot of pressure, and it didn’t release until the crimp was complete. The little knob located on the side allows you to easily disengage the ratchet if you have to open the jaws before the crimp cycle is complete. You don’t need to find something to push a release lever located in the small space between the handles, like you do with most other crimpers. It also has a little push button to keep the handles closed when you’re not using the tool.I would’ve given it 5 stars if the first one I ordered wasn’t crooked. I’m glad I bought it.

Great crimper - really great crimper!
The Capri Tools High Leverage Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper doesn't look like other insulated terminal crimpers because... it's not. I have another crimping tool for insulated terminals and it requires a LOT of force to produce a crimp, especially on the largest "yellow" terminals. This Capri crimper uses a different style mechanism that produces extra leverage which easily crimps even the large terminals while requiring what feels like one half the force of my other tool. Additionally, the crimp jaws are accurately machined, line up correctly and do not leave "burrs" on the terminals like my other tool does. Also, the jaws open and close straight up and down, not in an arc like other crimpers.A few other details: The jaws are (properly) color coded (unlike my other crimper), the tool has factory applied grease lubrication on all the moving joints which shows attention to quality and makes it work smoothly. The crimp jaws are replacable, but they are so solidly made that I doubt they would ever need to be replaced. The jaw profile produces both the crimp itself as well as a strain relief for the wire. This tool is the "ratcheting" type, which allows inserting and "holding" a crimp terminal to allow proper alignment and wire insertion without needing "three hands". The ratchet mechanism also insures that the crimp must be fully completed before the jaws will open. This guarantees consistent crimps each time. However, if necessary, the ratchet can be opened before a crimp cycle is completed to allow removing or repositioning the terminal. The amount of crimp is adjustable by removing a lock screw, rotating the adjuster, then replacing the lock screw. The Capri Tools High Leverage Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper is built with thick, solid steel components in the mechanism, along with non-slip, comfortable grips.I purchased this tool because it was advertised as "high leverage" which I thought would make crimping thick, high current terminals easier. Indeed, it does this job beautifully, but I didn't expect the high quality of the build or all the little features that make it so much better than other insulated terminal crimp tools. All I can say is that this tool greatly exceeded my expectations and, knowing now how good it is, I would have gladly paid double for it. If you need great performance, great quality and a great price, look no further than this Capri Tools High Leverage Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper. I am 200% satisfied and give it both thumbs up!

Worth buying if crimping is your trade
Worth it , replacement due to a thief. Big handle, easy to use, will not damage heat shrink connectors

Good tool
This crumpet is much better than most I have used. The crimping mechanism is very durable but the handles seem a little weak when ratcheting hard, which must be done to get it to release. Overall a good choice.
