I just received my much anticipated Barbara Lewis book, Mastering Torch-Fired Enamel Jewelry: The Next Steps in Painting with Fire. I pre-ordered and was anxiously awaiting its arrival. I am relatively new to the torch-fired enamel craft and became enamored with this art form from a magazine featuring Barbara's work.Now, I have never touched a torch. I was also nervous about the about the whole fire thing and had certainly never set fire to anything. I am a beaded jewelry designer, who happens to love metal working. After getting Barbara's first book, watching her video's available on YouTube and her website: www.paintingwithfirestudio.com, I was hooked.A novice can pick up this craft and actually make something! Barbara's technique and illustrations and directions are spot on! I made beads the very first time I tried. It was amazing and I was hooked!The projects in this book are well thought out. Very well explained, photographed beautifully and I learned new techniques! It is a great jumping off point for MY imagination and creativity!!!! What a great resource!

Doesn't get any better than this! Barbara's first book was a tremendous enabler for all of us that love enameling, as well as being fun and easy to understand and with lots of really terrific projects included. THIS one is even BETTER, if you can believe it!!! If you aren't currently enameling but WANT to, or if you are enameling but only via kiln-fired or trivet-fired techniques, you will really really REALLY want to read her books, as they will teach you how to inexpensively set up so that you can quickly and easily enamel jewelry items whenever you WANT to. You can literally decide to make a piece and 15 minutes later it is FINISHED. No metal cleaning, no kiln to heat up--once you have the metal shaped the enameling takes place in only MINUTES. Try THAT by any other method! And if you are already torch-firing enamel pieces, this book will take you further down the path than you probably have imagined, and the projects included are really cool. What more can I say? BUY IT!!!

I've been waIting since April for Barbara's 2nd. book, finally it has arrived and of course I am NOT dissapointed !The colors are fabulous and the projects very interesting. Direction are easily followed by even the novice. Many hints to pick up from this very talented artist, you can feel the warmth of her personality come thru the pages ! Thank you Barbara. It cant get any better than this. I loved the detailed description of things that I could see in person. I will and have purchased all and any book she writes. Her books keep me focused too and remind me when I cant get to the live pictures. Barbara Lewis is the best of the best. My goal is to be able yo take any class from her so I can say thanks.

Great book by Barbara Lewis. However there were several projects I would not use.. But still a wealth of info.

overall, the information for a beginner to intermediate is very solid.Worth to read if you are interested in enamel before you invest a lot.

I felt this book was written very well. The photos were amazing and the instructions clear concise and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this nook to anyone interested in enameling

I loved the first book and this one is also a treasure. It covers questions I had just from reading the first book. I love the part on making head pins by building up the enamel and then forming the glass into tiny flowers! I am excited to try the new techniques.

This was bought as a gift for an friend who loved it. She said the techniques are good and some interesting ideas

Not new as I ordered.

I have looked through the book, but I haven't attempted any projects yet. It seems well explained, with many photographs. There are numerous projects, some more basic, some more advanced. Everyone should be able to get something out of this book!

I have done both courses on Craftsy from Barbara Lewis and her books are a great reference to the techniques she demonstrates in the lessons. Her books are stand-alone resources to learn and follow the technique of torch fired enamels, but also complement the lessons she teaches and are perfectly used in unison.Highly Recommended _ She is a wonderful instructor
