Pepper seeds take much longer to germinate
The tomato sprouts very quickly with little leaves in a few days. Pepper takes a long time to sprout. I gave up on it but leafy the seed pod in there and lo and behold, it sprouted after a month! Now they’re both growing very nicely. The tomato will take up all the space so growing one is enough for all 6-pod area. The peppers are smaller so maybe two can fit. Do not use all 6 pod slots unless you plan to move some plants out to plant elsewhere!!

I honestly can't believe how well this works.
I bought this for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. We use a lot of herbs and spices and are always going to the grocery store for more. This little son of a gun grows so unbelievably fast. If you plan to replant, make sure you're getting into the bottom space and keeping the roots under control. If you have all the pod spaces filled, the roots start to get intertwined. Not a big problem, just something to look out for. HIGHLY recommend this product!

Okay so here's how it went.
I bought these to go with my new hydroponics garden about 2 weeks ago with an herb garden and some salad greens.. I thought I'd start small and simple and then figure out the fancy stuff later. I'm a very casual gardener and this seemed simple enough to fit into my lifestyle. The tomatoes popped right up. Thats a 2 week shot of them right there. One is doing really well and the little one is on the struggle buss. The dud on the end.... is the peppers plant. There were two pods that I'd put into the system but when they didn't sprout at all I did do an autopsy on one. It was as I'd thought, no pepper seeds! The good news is that no harm no foul. Seeds are still 98 cents at the store and I'll grab a packet in the morning. I've already looked in the box to see if maybe they'd gotten knocked loose from the pod, but there weren't any. I'm sure for someone less adventurous this might be a serious drawback. I however am having a grand old time playing hydroponic farmer. :) I'll probably buy direct from the site next time seeing as amazon isn't any cheaper and its merchandise has become compromised and you actually have a wider selection of pod kits.

Good purchase
Vibrant sturdy plants, which are growing immensely. We have no complaints with this product.

UPDATE: I really wanted to update my review once the tomatoes and jalapeños got going and here we are. Have to say, this is the first time I have been 100% successful with all the pods (speaking in general, not specific to the salsa kit). I am so excited but still need to be patient as one tomato fell off, so I ate it. Even though it was red, it wasn't ready and tasted awful (so tart) so I'm leaving them for a while longer. I covered the unused holes with foil (I refuse to pay $25 plus import fees for the cheap quality caps that should come with EVERY AeroGarden). This is very important to stop algea growth which will ruin your entire crop. Original Review: I'm so happy! All 6 pods are doing well even though 3 pods took a couple extra weeks and I am in my 6th week right now and all are flourishing. All 3 of my tomato plants have flowers and my jalapeño plants are still a bit thin but looks very healthy. If you have only ever grown herbs in an AeroGarden, like myself, you need to be MUCH more patient with the Salsa kit. All 3 of my jalapeño plants took about 3 weeks to start sprouting, the flowers on my tomato plants took almost a month to start growing and there are extra steps you need to take. Once you have flowers, you need to mimic the same action bees do when they pollinate flowers and AeroGarden recommends buying their over-priced Be the Bee Pollinator (which is a nice low price in the US but here in Canada it is triple the price). Don't waste your money, an electric toothbrush does the exact same thing the Pollinator does and if you don't have an electric toothbrush then rest a small fan in front of the garden for an hour or so (this also helps the plants to strengthen their stems). This is very lengthy process and can take over 3 months until you are ready to harvest. Please remember to do a complete water change every 4 weeks and replace with filtered or distilled water (tap water will throw off the acidity levels).

I've only grown one of the jalapeño plants so far because it grew so fast and gave me more than a dozen peppers in the span of a couple weeks! Still growing the first tomato plant also, as it's the perfect snacking plant for my kids. Looking forward to many more!

All my seed pod kits did not germinate. They were moldy and nothing came out of it. I've had this system for a few years I know how to use it but these seed pods all were a failure.

Of the six pods, only the three tomato pods and one of the pepper pods produced growth. One of the pepper pods stalled after sprouting the third didn’t sprout at all. Do expect good growth from the four that sprouted but am disappointed with the other two considering the price paid.
