Yes. It takes a few minutes and a tiny screwdriver to get a battery into the teeny, tiny compartment. Small fingers and a steady hand, along with some patience is needed. Instructions aren't the clearest, but it's an excellent thermometer. Easy to read, holds on well to a clean window and it's in fahrenheit (check this before you buy any thermometer). Definitely recommend.

It works well, is attractive, and the daily hi/low is cool. The glass surface it was placed on was well cleaned and dried but the adhesive did not fully contact. I fear it will fall off if H2O gets in there and freezes.

First, nobody is paying me to write this review. This is an excellent upgraded design to the previous model. These are intended to be mounted on the outside of a window; in other words, they are outside thermometers that display the outside temperature to the person on the inside of the window. This model has a translucent backing on the outside, unlike the previous model, which was clear. This makes reading the temperature easier. It has a LARGE, easy-to-read current outside air temperature display as well as two displays below it that show the 24-hour high/low temperatures. Keeping in mind that this thermometer exists entirely outside, it has a well-sealed battery compartment with a gasket around the access door and a small Phillips screw to secure it closed. The screw really can't be any bigger than it is because of the design. A small set of eyeglass (or jeweler's) screwdrivers should be fine to use. Although the screw is a Phillips (+) head, a properly sized flat blade screwdriver will work as well. A small dab of Vaseline or other grease may help with any screw corrosion due to the elements. I would strongly recommend using Energizer AAA Lithium batteries because they're 100% leakproof (protecting your investment against corrosion) and they have a long life. Finally, I would suggest placing the thermometer on a shaded window to eliminate incorrect readings due to solar radiation. I've written a lot about this little device, but I hope it helps you. I've found it to be accurate (compared to other closely placed thermometers) and should give you years of service if you just give it a little TLC like I've outlined above.

Designed to make you replace it. The battery compartment requires a teeny weenie screwdriver to open, the screw doesn't go back into place easily and guarantees you'll strip the screw putting it back into place, mostly because it is so tiny and so snug you can't see that the screw is not turning until it is fully stripped. Why does it take a screw?!?! Why not a built-in clip!? UGH!!! Not to mention it is in my 70º house registering 78º. POS! DO NOT BUY!! Edit: after 25 min it did show the correct temp. But I DID have to borrow an IT Repair/Eyeglass repair set of screwdrivers and had to use the tiniest one, and damn near lost the itty bitty screw both taking it out and putting back in. So maybe buy a set of those to go with it. WHY A SCREW FFS!?!?! Why not a regular clip?!?! They could have just made the cover it snaps into, the one that sticks to the window, go over the top to keep water out! Stupid design!

We put this on our bathroom window so that we can check the temperature before we get dressed. It's accurate, and to be clearly seen through the window. I'm so happy with it that I have bought 8 to give for Christmas. They are also easy to set up. You do need a tiny Phillips head screwdriver...
