Excellent Matcha from the Uji Region of Japan
This matcha is excellent! A huge plus is that it is from the Uji region of Japan, which is known for producing the best quality matcha. This is ceremonial grade and is everything I would expect from a higher level/quality of matcha. It is a bright green with a very fresh aroma, it dissolves easily, and it is very smooth tasting and not bitter at all.Importantly, this is distributed in the preferred way to maximize freshness. The matcha was in a sealed foil bag and then the bag was in a tight sealed tin. This even had the extra step of a sturdy plastic seal within the tin.The price ($21.99 at the time of this review for the 40 gram size) is comparable to matcha I have previously purchased from a company that works only with farmers in the Uji reason, so to my view the pricing is right where it should be for matcha from Uji, Japan and for this quality level of matcha.

Don’t hesitate-it’s amazing!
Excellent ceremonial grade matcha. Bright green, dissolves completely. Bright, smooth, grassy flavor.I struggled to open and pour the vacuum sealed pouch into the canister without spilling some. The powder was packed ll the way up into the creases where the pouch needs to be cut. But I’m impressed with the canister and sealing cap otherwise. If you’re more patient and careful than I was, you’ll probably have a better time with it.It’s definitely worth the value for this high quality. I’ve never treated myself to ceremonial grade before, but I have consumed a lot of culinary grade. This experience is many levels above that. I will be investing in this the future.

It was a little bitter by itself but in latte form it was delicious! Very creamy and beautiful vibrant green!

Refreshing matcha
Although I’m not a matcha expert, I do I recognize quality matcha, and I believe this brand qualifies. It comes inside a small tin in a metallic bag. Also inside the tin is plastic reusable plug which seals the inside of the tin if returned to its original location after removing some matcha. The scent is very grassy and fresh, and the powder mixes well in a little slightly hot water. I added a little sugar (I don’t do the whole ceremony) and had a lovely drink providing a slight caffeine boost, as I desired.

decent, dense powder, earthy, lightly bitter
i find the flavor to be pretty balanced, mainly earthy, light grass notes, and a little something else i cant describe. lightly bitter, this is fine on its own, but a little sugar is my preferred way, comes out pretty smooth and decently creamy, although i always make lattes only. the powder is very dense (probably because of quality, cause cheaper ones ive used were thinner), i use an electric frother whenever i make a matcha latte, i find this one really hard to mix, cause it just clumps at the bottom, so needs some stirring/breaking up too, im not sure if it does that using the proper whisk, cause i never do that mixing method whenever.

No bitterness and dissolves completely
Review of: HAYASHIYA Matcha Powder - Wakamatsu - Kyoto Uji Ceremonial Grade, First Harvest Authentic Japanese Matcha Green Tea Powder (40g / 1.4oz)I’ve tried a few Matcha powders before and they’re all good...but sometimes they have a slightly bitter taste and don’t dissolve completely. I thought ‘well that’s what all Matcha powders do’.Wrong. This HAYASHIYA Matcha Powder isn’t bitter at all. It has a really nice light grassy flavor.I do usually dissolve my matcha powders in a little water first before I add the hot water to help with the dissolving. But I honestly think that this powder doesn’t even need that step. There was absolutely no undissolved powder left in the bottom of my mug.So yes, this one’s a winner in my book.

Perfect pure matcha
This ceremonial grade Mecha is the real deal. The container might be small, but a little bit goes quite a long way. The tea is a very fine powder that mixes easily in hot water and has the authentic flavors and smells that you would expect. If you don’t have the ceremonial tools to make the tea as intended, you can still use a standard spoon or whisk and this powder will dissolve and absorb easily. Just keep in mind that you only need a very small amount to produce a full bodied flavor. At $22 MSRP, this is a great choice.
