Suggested Use: Prepared liquid milk replacer should be refrigerated. One 12 oz can of poweder makes approximately 60 oz of liquid when mixed 1:2. Feeding Directions: Newborn Puppies: Mix powder with water (see Mixing Directions below). Warm liquid to at least room temperature, but no warmer than 100° F (37° C). Test liquid on your wrist prior to feeding to be sure that temperature is not too hot. Healthy puppies grow rapidly and their nutritional needs change as they grow. To ensure adequate feeding, weigh your puppy 3 times per week. Depending on your puppy's weight, you will need to increase or decrease the amount of milk replacer in order to meet your puppy's individual nutritional needs. Calculate your puppy's total nutritional needs per day (see Daily Feeding Amount below). Mix enough milk replacer for an entire day and feed equal amounts of milk replacer every 8 hours. Small and/or weak puppies should be fed equal amounts of milk replacer every 3 to 4 hours. If your puppy is old enough to lap, milk replacer can be given in a shallow container. Daily Feeding Amount: Feed your puppy 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of liquid milk replacer for every 4 ounces (115 g) of body weight per day. For example, a 1 lb (16 oz) puppy should be fed 8 tablespoons (120 ml) of milk replacer per day. If feeding the puppy every 8 hours, give 40 ml (approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons) of liquid at each feeding; if feeding the puppy every 3-4 hours, give 15-20 ml (approximately 1 1/4 tablespoons) of liquid at each feeding. Growing Puppies (post weaning), Show Dogs and/or Convalescing Dogs: Feed 1 teaspoon (2 g) of the milk replacer powder per 5 lbs (2.2 kg) of body weight per day. Pregnant and Lactating Bitches: Feed 2 teaspoons (4 g) of the milk replacer powder per 5 lbs (2.2 kg) of body weight per day. Mixing Directions: Add milk replacer powder to warm water in a 1:2 ratio as described below (for example, add 1 tablespoon of powder to 2 tablespoons of water). Stir gently until mixed well. Do not use a blender to mix. Weight of Puppy Amount of Powder Milk Replacer Per Day Amount of Water to be added 3 oz. (85g) 1 tablespoon (15g) 2 tablespoons (30ml) 6 oz.
