Tech Kid Heaven
The positives - My godson is an intelligent and tech savvy 7 year old who loves loves Legos and Minecraft, as well as trains and building in general. He opened this gift and we haven't heard from him for several hours! He was so proud of displaying his projects and explaining how he wired the structures to the silent alarms, lights, how the garage door operated, etc. We woke up the next day and that's the first thing he ran to, foregoing his other toys. I would say that this set is a win in my book! The minor issues - I wish that the cardboard that is used for making the walls and roof of the structures was a bit thicker. It definitely stays in place, but I have a feeling that after months of use, it will show the wear. But knowing my godson, he will most likely end up making his own in the near future. As well, I noticed that he had a bit of a hard time having the structure stay connected, as if the pieces were slightly off in thickness. He was able to put everything together, but as he would start maneuvering the wires, the pieces would come apart fairly easily. I guess it's a plus and a minus.I'm giving this 5 stars simply for the fact that it has kept him entertained for longer than most "complex" toys would. There are so many structures that he has already built and continues to build (as I hear from his parents). This is very reminiscent of minecraft, so definitely a favorite with him.

Will inspire tinkering in kids and adults.
I purchased this for a 10 year old and he absolutely loves this toy. He played with it for most of his waking hours for three days straight and is still going strong. Yes, the paper pieces and the plastic pieces are a bit flimsy and do expect them to fall apart now and then, but these pieces along with the electronic components will really give a kid room to create all kinds of new projects based on the examples in the included booklet. The example projects will inspire tinkering in kids and adults alike. In a way, the combination of electronic components and how they can work together in different configurations really reminded me of the basics of computer programming.

Only one problem that I hope you can help with. Otherwise, great product.
We bought this for my 10 year old grandson. He loves it and is able to understand how it works. I would rate the product a 5, but there is one small problem that I hope will be quickly resolved. The plug on a black wire on the forward/backward switch is missing. The product is educational and my grandson, who loves building Legos went nuts over this. He is having a great time with it. We just need this one item replaced quickly. Thank you.

Fabulous for children 5-8 who are very adept with their hands and love to build.
My grandson is 5 and builds lego kits for 10 and older. He loves to build and is extremely adept with his hands. He built two rooms and wired the doorbell himself and was very excited with it. You have to judge the right age of your child, depending on his attention span and dexterity. It's a great kit for those who like building.

No sturdiness -
I like the idea very much and this is why I bought. I am looking for smart toys that my kids can use multiple times and actually enjoys and learn from. Once agan the concept is great but the posts don't stay in place. I mean that you plug 4 posts and then you want to add the roof or floor and everything falls, it is really annoying as after 30 minutes we didn't get to the fun part to add wires and so on. The plastic is so cheap. It is very frustrating for kids and parents. I am really questionning the design team here. Did you test your product?

Fun idea. Not well made. Overpriced for the quality.
We previously purchased the Smart Circuits set from this maker and we're very excited to get this set to play with and engineer. The other set is sturdy and well made. We nearly did every single project that it came with the day it arrived. That set was so fun! We were really looking forward to playing with this set as well. BUT within an hour, several pieces had already broken or cracked. And we were building carefully! The wall and floor pieces and all the fun looking accessories (other than the plastic grids, supports and wiring) are just printed on thin cardstock that falls over if you barely brush against it. It doesn't stay where you place it and tears very easily.I had hoped these sets would be able to be used with each other since they're both built on a square grid base from the same company. The wiring can connect. However, surprisingly the square grids are not only different sizes (and quality), but the tab parts that connect grid to grid are also different sizes. If they had at least made the snap-tab sides uniform, one could connect the two sets for even more fun.If we decide to keep the kit (still debating) I will have to reconstruct the walls, floors and such using sturdier and slightly thicker materials that won't slide out if you barely brush against it. There is definitely room for improvement with this kit. It's not remotely as well made as the Smart Circuits set. I'm rather disappointed, but my son does like the bright graphics and the engineering/electronic angle of the set. Luckily for him, I've got a background in design and can craft a fix for this. That said, for this price, I shouldn't have to fix anything after playing with it half a day.

Hours of fun for little engineers
Got this as a lightning deal for a 6 year old. Definitely his favorite Christmas gift this year. Great for kids that love engineering/tinkering to see how things work. Not super sturdy if you’re hoping to use similar to a dollhouse, but works very well for it’s intended purpose.

Fun project
I wouldn't pay full price for this but it was definitely worth the price I paid! My 11 yr. old son is having fun with all the different options. It's a neat project & is keeping him busy while learning...but he'll have to treat & store the cardboard parts delicately in order to keep playing with this.
