Auto Focus 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 VC PZD All-In-One Zoom Lens with Built in Motor for Nikon DSLR Cameras (Model B008N)

This is easily the best all rounder lens for nearly all situations in 1 lens. Bought used from "pupa online shop" as "used-very good" with minor surface dust and less than 5 dust particles that got inside the lens glass. $700+ new is a steep price (cause I'm a cheapo) so anyone looking at this lens should probably buy a used one under $150 and in better than "acceptable" condition. I had been researching for compact long zoom lens for about a month until I came upon 18-200mm lenses from other manufacturers and then this one showed up for a very good "used" price. There were also the 16-300mm lens but those ones are out of my price range both in new and used. The way this lens zooms is extremely unique (and the 16-200+ lenses also probably do the same thing) in that there is a double stack zoom which keeps this lens very low profile and makes this the ultimate travel lens if you were limited to only 1 lens. Pictures do come out slightly darker than compared to OEM Canon lenses but is correctable with camera controls. It also does appear that this is not a true 270mm lens and is more like around 200mm based on captainzip's 2016 review but I can live with that since I got this for a decent price. Also be aware that this lens, the Di II B008, has been discontinued since 2014 so don't expect a warranty or any kind of repair service to be available.

So I saw Tamron's ad in some magazine which led me to looking at it here and ultimately buying it. The selling point: obviously, the incredibly long 18-270mm range for several hundred dollars less than the other contender (Nikon 18-200). Also, the professional reviews of this were mostly positive or very positive. Most of the issues in the previous model have been improved (the autofocus). So when I got the package, I was pretty excited. The lens performs as expected. The vibration control is very effective and seems to be more so than my kit lens (Nikon 18-105mm). When VC turns on, you get a momentary jump in the viewfinder as it activates - and while on, you hear a very soft and almost silent 'hummmmmm'. When you let go of the autofocus, there is a pause of about 2-3 seconds before VC turns off, and again you see a little jump in the viewfinder. By comparison, the Nikon's VC turns on and off without even the slightest indication. I really don't mind this, but some might not know and think it is a defect in their lens. I have also read that Tamron's VC, although very effective, draws a lot of battery. The real disappointment for me may have nothing to do with this particular lens but more of what my expectations were. When I was comparing lenses, 18-270mm sounded A LOT better than 18-200mm. I mention this because if you are not very knowledgeable, you may not know that visually, the difference between 18mm to 88mm (difference of 70mm) is DRAMATICALLY different than 200mm to 270mm (again, a difference of 70mm). The fact is that if I took a picture at 200mm and then one at 270mm, it was SHOCKINGLY not very different at all. In fact, it looked like it barely moved about 2-3 inches closer to a subject that was 10 yards away. I am not speaking scientifically, I am only describing my perception. Since it is likely to be your perception as well, be warned that the additional 70mm is probably not worth any premium in dollars. If you are comparing lenses, I would pick the best one for the price and not look past 18-200mm or 18-250mm (Sigma) lenses just because none of them get to 270mm like the Tamron. Incidentally, the Piezo drive AF worked very well. I thought it was quite fast and responsive. There was zoom creep in the middle range and the lens is amazingly compact and light for what it does. CONCLUSION: A well-built, responsive and sharp lens but the 270mm reach simply didn't impress me anywhere near what I thought it would and should.

I love this lens! This is my second 18_270mm lens. I use it on my Canon 7D MarkII camera and absolutely love it. The reason this is my second lens is because unfortunately, I dropped my first one and it shattered the glass internally. I was heartbroken because this lens really is an incredible all purpose walk-around and travel lens. And its nice and light weight. My wonderful wife told me to get online and order another one. I own several Canon lenses and I will say it is not as sharp as a Canon lens, but when you consider just how sharp it really is for this price you cannot beat it. I know it has been upgraded to a new 18-400mm lens which is quite an improvement in reach, however, with the increased reach comes increased challenges to sharpness when hand holding the camera. For this price you just can't beat what you get. It's sharp wide as well as racked all the way out to 270mm. The autofocus is pretty quick considering its not a big name lens. I attached a couple of photos. The first two show 18mm then out to 270mm. The others are various focal lengths. The dove is at 270mm and shows how well the lens did auto focusing despite all the branches around the bird that could have made it difficult. The moon was shot handheld from my back deck on autofocus. This lens has great stabilization. The photo of our cat was taken at 85mm for a portrait look and the drops on the branch show that the lens can get a pretty decent macro effect. By now you can tell I am a huge fan of this lens and highly recommend it for virtually any purpose from sports to portrait, for travel or just walking around. I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's a lot of performance for the money. I do not work for Tamron by the way, I just love this lens!

CANON EOS40Dという古いカメラのレンズ（マウントの形状EF）を探し、このレンズに行きあたり、、良いレンズを探していました。正直望遠系としては少し解像度がイマイチですが、流石にTAMRON手振れ防止機能は凄い。オートバイ移動が主になる為に出来るだけレンズ本数を減らしたいので、助かります。 中古であるにもかかわらず、カビは無く埃などもほとんど無く動作もズームが少し硬いだけで機器は正常に起動ピントもバッチリでした。 大変満足しています。

Passionné de photo, j'ai acheté cet objectif comme cadeau pour des personnes qui eux ne veulent pas s'embêter a changer d'objectif constamment pour leur photos de vacances, je dois dire qu'après l'avoir testé et vue les photos HD, la qualité est vraiment au top que ce soit a 18 comme a 270mm! Très bon piqué, aucun flare même a contre jour, aucune aberration chromatique, je dois admettre que plus le temps passe plus Tamron s'améliore sur leur objectif, et celui ci est vraiment un excellent rapport qualité/prix/polyvalence! Pour ceux qui veulent un seul et unique objectif qui soit polyvalent, je recommande sans hésiter!

Its not fit to my Sony a7ii the lens..you have to specify and well detailed your items

The speed of focusing is great and the sharpness is very good. I have nothing to say against the lensI have used the Sony lens for about five years which is very good but has a slower focus time and cost one and a half times more than the Tamron AFB008S-700AF 18-270mm f3.5-6.3DI LL PZD LD ASPHERICAL LF MACRO

I love this lens. It may not do one thing really really amazingly, but it does everything really well. Not having to switch lensea because the focal range is so broad is fantastic. It saves me from missing shots switching lenses so its great when I'm out hiking etc and I'm not sure what I'll be shooting. I can get those great wide angle landscape scenes and then zoom in really tight when I see a rare bird or animal. That versatility is very important to me. Auto focus is fast and precise and the image stabilization is great even when at 270mm. My images come out crisp and clear and there is only minimal vignetting at full zoom. Very pleased overall.
