Excellent for what I needed.
I was looking for a pipe cutter to reduce the size of my new bicycle handlebars, I needed one that would cut at least 1 1/8 inch in diameter and most importantly that would cut chromoly steel. I read a review of this cutter where the buyer was able to cut seatpost and the like. So I ordered this one for similar projects. I’m pleased with the results. I’ve only used it for one project, so don’t know how long it will last, I also noticed that the first cut was a little faster than the second and that might be due to the cutting wheel not being “brand new” on the second cut. This could just be wear on the wheel since it’s cutting steel and not soft metals like aluminum or copper. So take my review with a grain of salt. 9-13-22

Works surprisingly well
I bought this for one use - to cut a pipe on a powdercoated piece of tubular steel. It cut right through it with minimal effort. I will say that the second time I tried to use it, the screw holding the cutting wheel in place fell out, but it was no broken and was able to be screwed back in, fit snugly, and functioned perfectly on subsequent use, so I wouldn't let that discourage you, just be aware to check it if you buy one. Would very much recommend.

With loose large diameter pipe try holding the cutter and carefully rotate the pipe.
Used to cut 1-1/2" copper tubing with no problems. I would give it 4-1/2 stars if I could (half a star for the de-burring tool since it doesn't lock in to place very well). If you're cutting large diameter loose pipe, I found it's easiest to proceed as follows: First, snug the cutter on to the pipe just enough to score the pipe on the first pass (i.e. not tight). Slowly turn the pipe while keeping the cutter stationary. If you find the cutter is slightly off track when you get back around to your starting point, stop the score when you're next to the starting point, tighten the cutter slightly and carefully reverse the cut. When you get back to your starting point you can either keep cutting and try to nudge the cutter on to the right track, tighten the cutter and continue around or just tighten the cutter and carefully reverse again (repeat until pipe/tube is cut). You can easily use a file and remove the small burr and even up the pipe at the attachment point once the pipe has cut through. The key is to be patient with the initial score.

Great pipe cutter!!!
When I first received this I thought it was way to "light weight" to actually do any pipe cutting. I was repairing an old chain link fence that had never had the posts cut to the same height. This cutter did the job as well as any of the "big boys" I have used in the past. I used to install fences for Sears, and this worked great. Now, I'll admit I only had a few posts to cut, so I don't know if this would be the tool for the long term, but for one job, it's plenty and the price is half what you would pay for a bigger model.

Cut the pipe, but also ruined the finish.
I bought this to cut the boom on a recumbent bike the I purchased. The boom was aluminum and about 2 1/8" in diameter. While the tool did cut the pipe, it also completely ruined the paint job by scratching it up. The side of the larger, non-cutting, wheel also dug into the paint while turning to cut. While this may not be a problem if you are cutting pipes for plumbing that will be out of sight, it was a problem for my needs. I ended up going down to the local hardware store and picking up another cutter which didn't have the same problem. It did, however, cost more money.

Worked like a charm!
Bought this because the elevated bed I bought for my daughter was too tall (she couldn't sit up in it without hitting her head on the ceiling) and I needed to drop it about 6". It was 2" steel tubing and this thing cut like a champ! I made the cuts with the bed still together and just floated the legs until all the cuts were made. Cut was straight and no filing was required! Tip- Before I made my cuts I measured and then scratched my starting point in with a box cutter. Gave me a perfect starting position for the pipe cutter blade to slide into and start from. Make sure your "scratch" is a single clean line so you get a straight cut.

Wobble and squeal
As others have noted, this pipe cutter falls into the "getting what you pay for" class of tools. For my purposes, it does the job, once you understand its quirks, and so long as you don't need a perfect cut on the first turn, every time. The cutting blade wobbles, slightly, making getting a perfect line difficult on the first turn. In my case, since I'm using it for something involved in crafts, it's ok. In my case, I turn it with a marker, to get a line that I can then follow, to set a guide with the first couple of light turns. After that, it follows the guide cut, and it's just a matter of making the remaining turns. Also, mine came with almost no lubrication. It squealed. The guide wheels, opposite the blade, didn't bother turning. Just go ahead and plan on hitting with with some oil. Works much better, now. Ultimately, if you have some patience, and are on a budget for a large-diameter pipe cutter, it's acceptable. I wouldn't recommend it if you're working on something where time and precision are critical, or if you have a decent budget for tools.

Works on stainless
Bought this to cut 6” from a 2.5” dia stainless sleeve that holds a pool table and umbrella. Was nervous that it wouldn’t hack it but made my cut in 2 min. Had a hard time at first getting it to stay in the track instead of wandering but once I got it going, I tightened it every rotation and in a couple minutes it popped right off. Nice tool.

Used it to cut closet rod 2 times, it starts to make screw threads, can not get a good cutting. I replace the cutting wheel, it still make thread. I have to use hand saw to complete the job. It is not a strong and durable cutting tool. It is useless.
