Rigid pipe threader, great tool made to work and last!
Needed a tool to thread gas pipe while on a job that was remote. This worked perfect didn't use the 1/2" die but the 3/4 and 1" dies worked excellent, cut around 20 of each size. the more oil you use the better the 1" takes some muscle but cuts perfect threads. Made in U.S as well and is totally different quality then the foreign dies and handle I saw at a local home improvement store.

I felt like a professional using this set.
I have used the 1/2 and three/4 threaders multiple times with zero problems. I purchased this set to complete a natural gas heater install in my garage. I don’t know exactly how many pipes I threaded, I would guess I probably did 20 three/4 and 10 1/2 with no problems at all. I used plenty of cutting oil and slow even pressure. My only suggestion to anyone planning to purchase this set is to make sure you have a good pipe vice.

Great professional quality tool!
I was setting up a new shop with air lines so I needed a pipe threader. I tried a HF unit and it broke after 6 threads. So having another 90+ threads to go I got this set. I should have got this set right off the bat. Works flawlessly and the die (1/2") still feels and cuts like new. Never used the 2 larger dies in the set but I would imagine they work as well as the 1/2". This is high quality pro-grade stuff and highly recommend.

Your best option for a quality hand threading tool - but flex is easier.
Per the instructions, only thread to the end of the steal die.Your total thread length will be 1/8 inch less than a typical pre-threaded nipple, but still more than adequate.I used plenty of cutting oil, but still had occasional problems with thread tearout.Could not determine if reversing the die to break the chips was helpful, or a waste of time.I suspect it is the quality of the Chinese pipe steel alloys, or the diameter of the pipe.Try to use U.S. made pipe.

I purchased an inexpensive set of pipe threaders from Harbor Freight that were absolute garbage. This Rigid set is pricey but when it comes to tools you get what you pay for. The rigid threaders are professional grade and work awesome. Money well spent

Poor quality
Ridgid quality is not what it was from years ago. I used 1/2" and 3/4" pipe thread cutting dies and was not pleased with the results. Threads were in many places were not clean and broken off. Instructions did not mention reversing while cutting and clean out chips. I tried cutting without reversing, reversing and stopping to add lots of cutting oil. It was hit and miss to get cleanly cut threads.

This is the small ratchet for 1" pipe and smaller.
Awesome quality. Premium price though. Looked at the much less expensive brands and noticed people said you have to nurse the die cutting along. Not with Rigid, keep some cutting oil on the threads and cut as fast as you like. You know what you are getting when it says Rigid. Tools for life.
