Son cannot put it down.
We bought this and LeapFrog® Leapster® 2 Learning Game System - Green for our son for Christmas. He is 6 and a big fan of Star Wars. He is the youngest in his first grade class and has the interest to read but is developmentally a bit behind them. This game makes learning fun, because he has little idea that he is even playing a game. Instead he is helping the rebels defeat the evil empire. It is set around episode 5 or 6. I have played it myself a little bit to see what it was like. They throw in small little games to assist with the main mission. These games build on vocabulary and reading skills without being in your face. Its quite ingenious and a credit to Leap Frog for the way it is subtly done. So much so he has hardly put it down since Christmas.Pros:>> A must for a child that is a fan of Star Wars>> Has improved his reading skills already in just a few days.>> Interesting dialog between characters>> Cartoony look that is faithful to the moviesCons:<< Screen is sometimes difficult to see with faster motionOverall if you have LeapFrog® Leapster® 2 Learning Game System - Green or the pink one, get this game for your early reader.Thank you for reading my review.

The BEST educational game I have bought my son
My son is 6 years old, first grade and has a slight learning disability so we work extra hard on his sight words and sounding out letters, he doesn't have a whole lot of patience for it. However he loves star wars and he loves nintendo ds. On a whim I decided to buy the leapster and this game for it - hoping that he wouldn't call it a "learning game" and immediately dismiss it. Wowee did I luck out - he loves this game, can't play it enough. The first day he had the game he was frustrated because he didn't know all the words and was running to me asking for help often. I encouraged him to try sounding out the letters and see how he could do. The second day I heard him sounding things out and trying to figure it out on his own. By day three he had mastered the game and was a general - oh was he exited - and mommy even more so - he is consistently reading three and four letter words from the game.Thank you so much leapster - well worth the money spent.

hmmm
For Christmas of 2010 I had gotten my nephew who is 4 a Leapster 2 in green, and 3 games. The cheaper games I could find on Amazon.com so i had the power to get him a few games instead of just one. This was one of the games I had purchased for him. Now, I cant tell you how much he actually gets out of it. He's young. he isn't in school yet, he may not actually understand the games yet... But he does run and hide in the corner with his Leapster 2, and sit there with his game, and little pen, all smart looking, and he plays for hours. He enjoys it. Hours of enjoyment. I just cant tell you how much he is learning from it, since he's still a little young.

My Grandson LOVES it!
I purchased this for my 5 year old grandson, who is in Kindergarten and just learning to read. He is also an avid Star Wars fan, so I thought this would be a fun way to help him with his basic reading skills. Well, this was the perfect choice because from the moment he opened it, he spentp practically every minute during the remainder of my visit using his Leapster with this game device. I spent some time doing it with him and was happy to see that it did, indeed, help him with his basic reading. All the while, making it FUN! Then his 8 year old sister wanted to play with it, too, so my worries that he would outgrow it too soon were quickly dispelled.

May the force....
May the force not allow your child to flunk. This is a great concept; make an educational game out of a popular movie. The biggest regret I had with this game is that it is stuck in the prequel, having no cross platform ability (insert sad face ) that means that unless you have an old school leapster then you're young padiwan will have to keep looking for another franchise to help their reading develop. Not compatible with Leappad explorer, Leappad or Leappad 2. Sorry folks

Great Product
I wanted to get my son a gift that he would like to play as well as serve as an educational tool for him. He is 6 years old. The Leapster arrived on time and in the box, and worked great from the moment we opened it up. I purchased two games with it, and he loves them! He is learning his letters and solving Math problems with it. I am very happy with the product!

Kids learn so much...but don't relized it because they're having so much fun!!
This game is worth it's weight in gold! I got this game for my 5 year old son, and he LOVES it! He enjoys it, because it allows him to feel like he's playing a traditional video game like his Dad's. I love it because he is learning the whole time!He has come leaps and bounds in the last several weeks that he's been playing it. He has learned nearly all letter sounds, and has begun sounding out words on his own!! I am generally not a fan of video games, but this one is fun and educational!

LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game: Star Wars Jedi Reading
We got this for our 4 yr old son. He stays pretty engaged with the various games. The educational aspect is simple - which is appropriate for his age. I'll hear the game say "shoot the letter that makes the mmmmm sound". I'll hear him repeat the phonic sound and figure out the letter so he can shoot it. Overall, I think it's a win-win; fun video game with some educational benefits, too.

Not compatible!!!!!
I bought this for my nephews leapster explorer for Christmas as it says it's compatible with all handheld leapsters.....but it doesn't fit in the cartridge bit! Not impressed.....and neither was my 5 year old nephew on Christmas Day. Now my sister is stuck with a game that's less than useless!
