I don't know why I love flashlights so much, but I do. Especially ones with great flood or great throw... this one has both, and in a very solid and compact package! The SK-05 Pro comes in a very nice package with the flashlight, charging cable, instructions, and belt clip. Taking the 05 out of the box you're immediately impressed with it's weight in a good way. The whole feel of this unit speaks to excellent build quality! And even though it's got some heft it feels comfortable and natural in the hand due to rectangle design along with finger groves on one side for your fingers. This places the rotary dial at your thumb position for easy access to all features without moving your hand. Very well thought out! I had to wait until nighttime to test it out which have me time to fully charge it before first use. This brings me to the side colored LED light. The side light is actually multi function and not just a gimmick, although it is pretty cool to run through it's different light modes with a friend! During charging the light changes color and length dependent on how charged the flashlight is. During charges it continues to pulsate to show progress but you can turn this off if it bothers you. The side lights many modes offer some which are practical such as a variable white light to replicate moonlight, an SOS mode, flashing warning modes of various colors and pulsating modes which are just kinda cool to look at. Once charged I took this baby out to my back yard which sits on a hill and a large field below. The flood light on high and on turbo lite that field up with the best of my previous floodlights. Wide and bright. The spotlight is even more wow! It's a tight well defined bean that in turbo appears to reach the claims made in the website. I don't have a way to measure it exactly but trust me, it's very impressive! Having all of these features placed together in one compact package with an easy to use interface makes this easily my favorite light and certainly worth the price! Get it! You won't be sorry!

So as we all know, flashlights are insanely good now. LED technology combined with lithium-ion batteries means that we've all had access to incredibly powerful, compact lights for years. And they just keep getting better. Now the lights aren't "just" super bright, but make beautiful, smooth light and carry out all kinds of handy functions. I actually bought this one because I was looking for battery banks to buy as Christmas gifts and hit a good sale here on Amazon. It's truly one of the coolest gadgets I've ever seen. Beautiful, compact, powerful and versatile. If I only had one flashlight, this might have to be it. LIKES Overall build quality - This is a solid, sophisticated, well-built light. It's actually smaller than I imagined from the photos -- just a bit bigger than holding a pair of 18650 batteries in your hand. The "MAO” anodized finish on the solid aluminum shell is supposed to be a bit tougher than normal treatments, and is unlike anything I've seen -- it's a smooth, khaki finish that feels a bit like polished stone. The light exudes quality in the fine details and feels like a professional or military-grade tool. The included belt clip is rock-solid and can be put on so the head of the light points down or up (down allows for a deep carry). Brightness -- I'm not a flashlight hobbyist, but I did thumb through some of the very thorough reviews online, and apparently the manufacturer's claims are accurate, taking into account that all sophisticated modern flashlights like this one automatically throttle down from maximum power pretty quickly to avoid battery damage or extreme heat. The brightest option is to press and hold the power button down in an any mode, which brings both the flood and spot beams on at full power. Somehow they combine to make a single, coherent flood of light that is extremely powerful, so should you need to illuminate a football field for a few seconds or reveal every corner of the back yard, you can. Note on the heat: I haven't tried torture testing the light with full power, but the heat seems concentrated at the front of the light -- you can actually feel it strongly holding your hand in front of it. I have not felt the body get warm (again I'm not pushing it). Less than full power doesn't seem to heat up badly. Used normally at low or mid power and just flashing to full power when needed, this light feels safe and solid. Features -- This is where this light, erm, really shines. It's packed to the gills with functionality: - 2 removable 4,000 mAh 18650 batteries, accessible from a latch on the bottom that has a reassuring sliding lock to keep it secure. Mine came with a 60% charge. - A USB-C port with a rubberized push-in cover, through which you can charge the light from a power source, or charge another item like a cell phone. The light automatically switches polarity depending on what you connect. This feature alone -- a power bank with replaceable batteries, makes it incredibly useful. We've just had to throw out a number of power banks where the internal batteries began bulging ominously, and it's always a shame to chuck a $50-60 item in the recycling. You could theoretically use this forever, and 8,000 mAh of capacity makes it good-sized backup battery for any lithium-ion device. 5 lights - Rotating through the dial surrounding the power button, you can first select the three-emitter "floody" light. As with the rest of the lights, you have three brightness levels selected by holding the button down,, from a fairly modest beam that will still illuminate better than any old-school flashlight, to a hearty medium, and finally a ferocious (2,000-something lumens?). Another clockwise click of the ring gets you the piercing one-emitter spotlight, again with three levels. The beam quality of both is excellent, and the coherence on the spotlight is so sharp you actually see the shape of the beam from the side, even on lower power levels. The hotspot is a sharply-defined circle. Another click of the ring gets you to the multi-function side LED, shaped like a narrow oval inset into the body of the light. When you activate any of the other beams, it shows a rough power level with a blue light. When you have the dial set to lock, it flashes red whenever the power button is pressed. On its own, the side light can be set to an array of colors, or even a combination of multiple colors, and three brightness levels. It can also be set to flash in a number of patterns, including blue and white, chasing, and SOS. Set to the most "white" color (a bit yellow) it will provide decent ambient light, good enough to see your way around a single room or a tent, although perhaps not enough to be a work light (if you're sticking it to a car hood, you'll be using the flood beam here). I think one intention is that you can clip the unit to a shoulder strap on a bag or backpack and set the side light to flash as a pedestrian or cyclist safety measure, which I think it would do quite well. Magnetic tail - The bottom of the light has both small pads to allow it to "tail stand" and magnets, which will support the weight of the light when working. I did note that on a vertical surface, you need to align the narrow part of the unit up and down - set perpendicular it will not support its weight. The unit can also "headstand" as there is a small lip in front of the lenses. This is actually a very stable position and would be handy using the sidelight for ambient illumination. What else? -- The light is rated to be military-grade dust and water resistant -- good enough to actually submerge if needed, although I would hesitate to dunk it deliberately as the flap on the USB-C cover is good, but I wouldn't want to risk exposing it in a full submersion. But it's good to know even heavy rain or a drop into a puddle should not be an issue. NOT SO LIKES Nothing so far. One thing I found out after purchase is that the manufacturer offers two versions of the LED emitters in the floodlight -- a coveted Nichia brand that provides exceptional color accuracy (becoming a "thing" in flashlight circles, I've read) or a brighter, whiter kind. I saw no option to select one or the other on Amazon, and got the brighter, whiter lights (there is a checkbox on the fancy magnetic box it comes in). I'm fine with what I got, but if this is a concern for you, take note. Others have questioned the solidity of the rotating ring around the power button, and the relative "clickiness" of the button itself. I found both feel reasonably solid, and actually quite like the power button with its fine concentric ridges. But I expect that in a bad drop, the ring would be the most vulnerable part of the light. The button's movement is fairly shallow, but it clicks positively and I find it solid enough. Neither the ring nor the button wobble perceptibly. Price -- Retail is around $160, which is getting steep for my tastes, but the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales on Amazon had it down to about $106-111, which is why I decided to grab one. Given the prices of other premium lights, I think it's reasonable. This is a piece of equipment inconceivable when I was growing up and even the "fanciest" flashlights barely made enough light to see, that is when the batteries (and bulbs!) weren't burning out. To someone my age, all of the new lights feel like they landed from outer space, but this one is a whole new level. Other -- This is just a neat, solid piece of gear overall. Compact, smooth and cool to the touch, and quite pocketable unless your pockets are already full. I don't have a ton of other LED lights, but this is the one I would carry anywhere I thought I needed serious illumination. Perfect for the car or a camping trip, or just as a a go-to around the house light that does everything. And frankly it's fun as a "gadget," if you or anyone you know likes that sort of thing. Five big, slick, feature-packed high-tech stars. Highly recommended.
