I wanted a bicycle headlight with a user-swappable battery, for any long rides in colder weather. I didn't want to be left half way home without a headlight. I looked at a lot of bicycle-specific and flashlight options, and settled on this Acebeam T35, and am very glad I bought it. I had a "lifetime warranty" Magnus Innovation headlight which I loved, and after quite a few years, it finally stopped working. Magnus Innovation is nowwhere to be found for the warranty. However, I mention this because the mount from the Magnus still works great and is rock solid. So, put a little gaffer tape around the barrel of this Acebeam T35 so it fits in the Magnus mount, and it's perfect. The T35 beam is great for riding on paved rails-to-trails paths in a forest, or on city streets. The brighter center works very well for more illumination on the path or road I'm on, and the less bright outer part of the beam gives me a pretty good view of what's outside my direct path. Not sure about trying to use it on mountaing biking trails; might not be a broad enough beam, but it might be OK for more casual riding on such trails, not for racing or going quite fast. This Acebeam T35 seems to be very, very well made. It can use the same batteries I used in the Magnus Innovation, so I have several backup batteries. The power on/off and the brightness switches work great for a bicycle headlight. If it's set to any of the brightness settings, and you turn it off, and then back on, it stays on the last brightness setting - a very nice feature. Plus, I can use it as a normal, really nice and powerful, regular flashlight. I love it, and would absolutely recommend it for a bicycle headlight, if you can find a good mount for it. And I definitely recommend it for a flashlight.

I almost didn't buy this light because I wanted one that could use disposable batteries as a backup and didn't see anything in the description about that option. But after looking at the description on the actual Acebeam website it does accept 2 standard, disposable, CR123 batteries. The brightness is what I expected and the performance of the different brightness levels is as described although switching to different levels is a little different (but not better or worse) then in the description here. Also the programmability is a little different, actually better, then described. Out of the box it's set to tactical mode, one press of the tail switch automatically comes on in turbo level, then use the side switch to change brightness level. But there is also an EDC (every day carry) mode. In the instructions it talks about "memorized light level" but it's a little fuzzy on how to select and program this "daily" mode. To switch from tactical to EDC mode, start from the off position, press and hold the side switch then press the tail switch, it comes on to turbo but you can now change the default tail switch brightness. While on in this mode select the desired brightness level using the side switch then switch off the tail switch. Now pressing the tail switch will come on to the last brightness level selected. To switch back to tactical mode press the tail switch to off, press and hold the side switch then press the tail switch back to on. This mode will always come on to turbo regardless of last brightness selected. Overall this is a great light. It has the features and output of similar lights with a better price.

I was looking for a well made flashlight since you find hundreds of cheap poorly made ones. This one is nice and bright, throws the light nice and far, and last a long while. While i dont think it justifies subtracting an entire star, if i could subtract 1/2 a star i would for 2 minor issues. 1. The button on the side that changes the intensity is VERY easy to click and you can easily change the brightness accidentally when simply holding the light. This can be a problem if you are using the light for a professional or security setting and having the light randomly switch to low can be a problem. Also because the button is flush with the body, if you do accidentally press it, you have to look down at the light to try and find it again to re-press it. I would love to see the buttons features get moved to the tail button like some other lights. Also for them to add some sort of feel and light to the button to its easy to find. I will say the reason im not subtracting a full star for this is because after using this for a few months, i have gotten some kind of muscle memory and have pretty much stopped accidentally pressing it. 2. the second minor this is the charging time. It can take longer that i realized to charge which can be an issue if you need to use it again quickly. The battery lasts a long while but once its dead, you need to give it a few hours to charge for it to be full again.
