Breaking Bad: The Final Season

Great series and the season 6 is no different. The Breaking Bad series keeps you guessing right though and is filled with suspense. Great direction, casting and story telling. The price for this DVD set was a steal.

I was a high school teacher for 37 years. So, I could identify with the character: low pay, poor insurance coverage, and monetary desperation. However, going into the drug trade to finance cancer treatment is a bit far fetch for me.

This is the last 8 episodes I'm not sure why they never released a bluray that has all 16 episodes of season 5 in one package other than the fact that when they aired on tv there was a year break after the first 8 episodes before the other 8 (which is what this is) aired, I mean understand that it makes sense for people that bought the first half but still it seems like they would have released an additional set with the entire 16 episodes of season 5 for the folks that didn't buy the first 8. Anyway now to the actual show itself. This my favorite show of all time. These last episodes are very crazy (in a good way) Walter by this point has totally changed into a different person. It's interesting to see how he responds totally different to situations then he did before. Oh and one more thing okay I'm not going to go overboard and say the last episode is the best episode because it's not but it's definitely at least in my top 10 of the entire series that's like out of 80 some odd episodes. I had to get that off my chest because I've seen many top ten lists that didn't include the final episode and I just can't wrap my head around why it's not in their top ten I mean because I think you couldn't have asked for a better ending. (Without giving anything away I know I'm not being very descriptive.) Anyway awesome season and show! Update: okay I guess I was wrong way more lists had that last episode in top ten than I thought but I'm leaving that part there just to stress how awesome that final episode really is!

I have never watched a television series, whether "true crime" or any other genre, with such a compelling human story, as Breaking Bad. This show succeeds, on every level, in depicting the savagery of the drug trade, and the futility of the "war on drugs", and what they do to the human beings who are one way or the other involved in them, for evil or for good. It also broke my heart, for I have never encountered a fictional character so thoroughly loathsome as the man that Walter White becomes, or is revealed to be, along his journey from his cancer diagnoses to his death in a remote meth lab... a journey in which he manages to destroy the family he purported to want to save; corrupt a confused and floundering young man and turn him into a vicious criminal, and cause the deaths of many other people, both innocent and guilty. The only real flaw in this series is the ending, which I found very unsatisfying, for too many loose ends are left dangling. I wanted to know what became of Skylar, or Flynn, or Marie, after the deaths of their husbands and father. How could they rebuild their wrecked lives and survive their grief?

What can I say? I am sure everyone now knows the story of our hero. We loved this series. We don't watch TV and have no TV service, so have had to see the best shows via DVDs. We had heard everyone talking about BB and although I am not a fan of violence I managed to watch this series and just left the room when things got too bad for me. (I know, I am a baby!!!) The acting on this entire show has been top notch. I just loved the Jesse character so spent most of this season crying for him, he was treated so badly and hurt so much. What a great actor he is and I am sure we are going to see his skills growing as the years go by. What can anyone say about Bryan Cranston? WOW. I used to love his "father" character in "Malcolm in the Middle" and it is so hard to realize that this is the same actor. He was fabulous. This is the best TV series I have ever watched and this last season is so good. I know awesome is used in every sentence these days, but truly I am in awe of the writers, the actors and all involved in this show and particularly in this season. It ended the only way it could have.
