A must for every Bak Mei practitioner
This book gives you a very good insight into the fundamentals of Bak Mei. Frankly I was surprised by some of the information that I read because most of it is not generally taught to A non-practitioner.The information in this book is very well thought out very accurate and explains techniques and theories in good detail. My only critique is the layout, which in my opinion could've been done in a more of a structured way. Other than that I was very impressed and very grateful that Mater Rea has written this book. Please understand that a book and does not replace actual instruction however this is an excellent guide to assist you when you are studying this rare and exotic form of Chinese martial arts.

Not for combat sports...
This is a great basic introduction to Bak Mei Pai kung fu.You are given the history of the art, the theory behind it and the bare basics of it's form.Bak Mei is a simple discipline meant to overpower an opponent while dealing serious physical harm. This is not a form for showing off or detracting bullies. It's a hard hitting brutal life defense discipline. The book is also well put together and is actually very enjoyable to read.

Interesting information, but not a guide
This has some really interesting information in it about a martial art with very little material out there to study. However, it doesn’t contain much in the way of practical information like techniques, etc.

Fascinating introduction to obscure facet of Marital Arts.
I am giving this book a review of 5 stars. I would equate this book with a menu from a great restaurant. There are enough hints, and valuable pointers to set one off in the right direction. With any system of combat, I think it is proper to say that it is the artist, and not the art, that makes one effective. While the systems contained herein might be a tad obscure to followers of more well tread paths, a good hard look at how others do things is entirely worth the cost of the book.Although a review of more than 5 stars is not possible in Amazon, if there were accompanying links to videos describing the techniques and exercises contained within this book, my review would be at 6 or above.

Interesting book, glad I bought it
This book is really interesting in terms of just content. There are some diagrams I haven't seen before and the expected photographs with explanations of how to do moves. There is some philosophy and history as well. Glad I bought it, because it's just interesting to look at. There are also a lot of definitions throughout.

This Is A Rare Book On A Rare Subject
White Eyebrow is also known as "Shaolin Killer" . It's an effective though secretive art, worth looking into and a book though small but well researched.

Book on a rare form
If you are fascinated with Kung Fu and it's many forms this is a great book. It is a southern Chine style with similarity to southern preying mantis. Powerful postures, footwork and hand forms. A bit esoteric and spiritual at times, but I liked that about it.

Usable but disappointing
Some spelling errors. A chapter on Beggar's style, would have been better as an appendix or left out. There was no explanation as to why this was included. The section on fist formations generalised this amongst kung fu and not specifically white eyebrow style. There are 19 full page pictures (not including 1/2 page illustrations and 1 blank page) best described as space fillers with no teaching benefit. These would have been better allocated to illustrating the first form called the straight step set, instead there is an unclear text explanation. The section concerning applied technique uses as partner exercises is very clear. When diagrams are used these used very well and bring clarity to the text.Good idea using symbols to illustrate teaching points for the written explanations for power generation. In addition this text is very clear.Very clear explanation regarding qualities required for self defence.Excellent explanation for training specialised fist forms.

Bad book
What upsets me about this book is that it does not sticks to the subject. When I buy a book on Bak Mei, I expects it to be on that subject. The book is on 145 pages. Yet page 110-127 is about some obscure Beggar Hand Kung Fu. And page 128-145 is Martial Arts maxims, the first of theese pages is the code of cunduct from Yip Man's Wing Chun school. From page 4-109 there are several full page drawings ect which seems to be there as a filling, to get more pages in the book. If you don't know enough about Bak Mei to fill out 145 pages, write a book with fewer pages or not at all.In my opinion, he should have gone in detail with the Bak Mei material he is sharing, then I would probably have given it 4 stars.
