A Thought-Provoking and Comforting Read!
"When God Doesn't Make Sense" by James Dobson is a remarkable book that tackles one of life's most challenging questions with wisdom, compassion, and a deep understanding of human struggles. Dobson's insightful perspective and compassionate approach make this book a must-read for anyone grappling with the complexities of faith in the face of adversity. From the very first pages, I was captivated by Dobson's ability to address the often unspoken doubts and questions that arise when we encounter difficult circumstances. He acknowledges the pain and confusion we feel when life takes unexpected turns, and he provides a guiding light to help navigate through these moments of doubt and despair. One of the book's greatest strengths is its ability to confront tough theological questions while maintaining a compassionate and empathetic tone. Dobson doesn't shy away from difficult topics, but rather confronts them head-on, providing insights and perspectives that challenge the reader to think deeply about their faith and relationship with God.Furthermore, Dobson's writing style is engaging and accessible. He presents complex ideas in a clear and relatable manner, making the book suitable for readers of all backgrounds and levels of spiritual maturity. Whether you are a lifelong believer or someone questioning their faith, this book offers valuable insights that will resonate with you on a personal level.Throughout the book, Dobson shares numerous real-life stories and examples that illustrate the struggles and triumphs of individuals who have faced seemingly insurmountable challenges. These stories serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, God's love and purpose can still be found.I particularly appreciated the book's emphasis on the importance of faith, even in the midst of unanswered questions. Dobson reminds us that our faith is not dependent on having all the answers, but rather on trusting in God's goodness and sovereignty, even when circumstances seem unjust or unfair. In conclusion, "When God Doesn't Make Sense" is a thought-provoking and comforting book that offers solace and guidance to those wrestling with the complexities of faith in the face of adversity. James Dobson's compassionate approach, relatable writing style, and profound insights make this book a powerful resource for anyone seeking answers and finding hope in the midst of life's challenges. Highly recommended!

A compelling argument for God's benevolence in an age of skeptcisim.
Suffering in this world is the one objection to the notion of a loving God that stands head and shoulders above all others as an argument against his existence, let alone his benevolence. Atheists like Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens have made it a final killer blow in their arsenal of cold, rational weapons, leveling them against Christians who want to believe their God makes some sense. Written by a man who himself has suffered pain and frustration while presenting the gospel in an age of skepticism and cold-hearted cynicism, it carefully lays out the argument and considers the biblical response. God must make sense in terms of Himself and His promises; otherwise he becomes impersonal and capricious, or He doesn't even exist. Dobson is a warrior, a soldier in the fight against the brutally cold winds of rationalism that have swept across (mainly) Western Civilisation since the Enlightenment, leaving us in a barren land without hope and meaning. This book left me with a sense of great hope, and not only that, but also definite promises to hold on to. Not only that, but a reminder that there is, for those who are willing to go through the the threshold of trust, a great vista of peace and hope in a world decimated by man's self-centeredness.Suffering is not new. All believers have faced it, ranging from Moses and Job to Bonhoffer and Dobson himself. The question is whether we succumb to skepticism or we see in suffering the grand plan, the beckoning to believe in something much bigger than the problem itself. Dobson helps to find that sense in no small way. It is probably a book you will read many times.

This Book Was Something…
The examples of things people experienced that the writer presented made me cringe. How you can go through such devastation but yet in each situation they held on to what they knew…In spite of it all and when it doesn’t make sense and we don’t have the answers we wish for there is peace in trusting God to keep us in every situation.

I bought a new book and received a used book
The media could not be loaded. The delivery was on time, but my frustration is that I purchased a new book and received a used book. I don’t mind used books at all. I just don’t want to pay new book prices for used books. This book is a gift to my daughter-in-law, who is currently struggling with cancer. I really wanted a book I could give her that at least wasn’t stained. She won’t mind so I will still give her this copy. But I was a little sad about it’s advertised condition versus it’s actual condition.

Best book on God's plan that I've ever read. A must!
This book covers why bad things happen in good people and especially explains why God lets these things happen. I still don't think He does them because God is about Love but He has given us a free will, thus sometime things get out of control.Listen, you can 1) spend the rest of life in bitterness or 2)you can move on and accept what has happened no matter how terrible. Is God testing our faithfulness? Are you doing what God wants you to do or what you want to do?
