Excellent selection of common minerals in their natural state. Size of rocks is sufficient for examination and identification. Good variety of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Info sheet has relevant info for each rock. Well suited for middle school, high school, and first year college geology. A better magnifier is recommended.

Samples are really small. less than an inch in many cases. However the information sheet has good information and I bought a set for grandson first and bought myself one after I got his. Price is standard. Smaller size box than anticipated.

The content was exactly as described. The rocks are on the smaller size, however the purpose they serve is just fine. Quality rocks, and comparable prices for other brands. Make a good gift for a kiddo interested in geology.

The kit supposedly contains a sample of pumice rock. Pumice rock is light-colored and has lots of air pockets that cause it to float on water. However, the sample of "pumice" included in this kit is dark-colored and sinks when placed in water. Thus, there's no way it's real pumice rock. More likely it's scoria rock, which is often confused with pumice but does not float. That said, it's still good enough for classroom purposes and I doubt most students would even notice some of the samples are fake substitutes. And contrary to what other reviews said, all the samples in the 10 boxes I ordered had the diameter between a nickle and quarter.

A bit disappointed rock collection arrived incomplete.

Reasonably good quality and sized rocks. My daughter enjoys taking them out and studying them. I got her a little digital microscope and its turned into quite a good learning opportunity.

I bought this for my 5 years old son. He loves it so much! He observed each rock/stone carefully using the magnifier (included in this set) and drew them down! My son loves drawing and these rocks really inspired him! I’m very satisfied with this purchase. It was packed very well. The rocks are very clean! The guide book is awesome- more information than I expected! Even I learned from it! The “Certificate of Junior Geologist” is definitely a wonderful bonus for my kid! He proudly wrote down his name on it after observing, drawing, and learning about these rocks! Highly recommended!

You're an advanced collector you probably don't want this but it is great for starters like young children A lot of the rocks are nice all those some of them could have been nicer Specimen's like stronger color or better shape However Theyre still very nice rocks they come a great container and do teach kids a lot about rocks
