Research based text but also practical applications
I liked it because of research in social psychology and leadership. It provides practical applications. It is not a “ lightweight “ read but I enjoyed it.

MONUMENTAL !
This is the best book that has ever been written on coaching. This simply is not a book, it is probably 10/15 good books put together. Nowhere near to the usual coaching stuff. This in all probably will be the best book on coaching unless Professor PELTIER will write an another one. This is a MUST read for a multitude of serious professionals, management consultants, all sorts of coaches, coaches to be and all of those who are in somewhere in the deep seas of psychology and psychiatry. I am making money out of this book directly, my anology is that there is a 100 US Dollar bill in between every single page and if you read it twice 100 Dollar bills are still there. ( I have solid 26 years of management consulting behind together with some 18 years of teaching and some 12 years of coaching behind, all running concurrently). Professor Peltier, I am more than ready to donate to your favorite charity in case you will have the chance to read this. ( [email protected] ) Thank you, the coaching business will be an entirely different and better one if there would be just a few books like this one. Thank very much.

A good resource
For such a dense book, it's actually very well organized and can be read quickly. The information is very accessible and allowed me to pull out what is useful for my needs right now.

Easy, Honest, Insightful Read. A Coaching Bible.
I got this book 5 days ago. It's a beast of a book, at 360+ pages, each page densely filled with information. It looks intimidating, but it's such an easy, honest, and insightful read.I'm only a chapter in, and I can already tell this is required reading for anyone interested in coaching. It is a true coaching bible. If you're thinking about coaching as a profession, buy this book first. (And that goes for any type of coaching since there are many transferable tenets.)I'm as coach myself and wish I had bought this book first before any of the countless coaching books I have.

Excellent overview of the pschological theories supporting Executive Coaching ..a must for executive coaches.
This book supported a paper that I am writing for publication. It provided ways for me to understand the theoretical psychological underpinings of executive coaching as a whole allowing me to synthesize the knowledge, compare the theories easily, and use it to support my research question. It also is an excellent presentation of research references which helped me dig deeper when necessary.Mercedes L. Not limited to one area.
I like how the author provides examples of how skills used in mental health translate over into the business arena (or any other arena).

Excellent Resource!
This is an excellent resource. He explains the role of psychology for the executive coach. He reviews the different systems and how they would apply to the executive coach and how they could use them in their role as a coach. . but at the end of every chapter he Summarizes and then gives you further references and recommended readings for each chapter.

okay
I bought this text book because it was required for a particular college class. I have not found it to be of interest because it was not my choice to buy it.

Excellent overview of psychological theory for coaches
I'm an executive coach with a background in line management and HR management. Written in a very clear and straightforward style, this book has given me the basic psychological theory underpinning coaching practice, with plenty of easily-understood examples. It will certainly broaden my repertoire of approaches to use with my coachees.
