Father Bear Comes Home (I Can Read Level 1)

When our children were very small, someone gave them a gift volume of Little Bear and they fell in love with him. Then when their children were very small, they loved the Little Bear show that was on Nick Jr. [I believe it was] and so I got some of the books for them. Now we have great grandchildren who love Little Bear just like their mommies and daddies did [and still do, truth be told!] This particular volume is one of their [and my!] favorites. The stories are whimsical and sweet and lovingly innocent in an age where children are exposed to far too much violence. One of the aspects that I have always appreciated about them is that they encourage children to use their imagination in wholesome and healthy ways. These stories are timeless and yet contemporary in their balanced presentation of family life as it can be and would certainly be a good influence for any child who is lucky enough to be exposed to this thoroughly likeable little fellow.

I purchased Father Bear Comes Home as a gift for my two year old for Easter. He absolutely loves the show Little Bear and the books just as much so for special occasions we have been adding the books series to his collection. Each book has short chapter stories, just like in the show. Some with little lessons, all absolutely adorable. Little Bear is a very wholesome series I would recommend to anyone with children. It is no annoying like a lot of the children television programs. The books arrived in great shape and will be well loved in our home.

Purchased this for my new baby coming in 5 weeks as these books brought me so much joy. I’m hoping the same for my baby. These books are exactly as I remembered them, love them so much.

My son and I enjoy reading these together. I love that they are longer books broken into chapters so there are easy stopping points where we can pick up reading later. I bought all the Little Bear books because of this. I do wish they had more stories and at different reading levels with the same characters.

My son (Almost 3) loves these books! In fact they are his favorite! He was a huge fan of the show first but loves every one of these story's just the same. These story's are so warm and quaint and they all flow along nicely with the next. Maurice Sendak's illustrations are beautiful as always. From fishing for octopus, dreaming of mermaids and trying to get rid of hiccups (my son giggles at every "hic") these story's are sure to make your little one smile. These books will be forever treasured in my house. I hope my son doesn't wear them out too much because I would love to keep them for his children one day.

All the Little Bear books are great, simple stories for young kids. My seven-year-old enjoys reading it while his little brother listens.

I loved these stories as a child and am loving sharing them with my kids. They’re very sweet stories with an innocent humor. And they’re perfect for early readers.
