Wilton Decorator Preferred White Fondant for Cake Decorating, 5 lb

This was very easy to use and add color to. I thought it tasted really good for fondant, and it didn't dry out as fast as I thought it would. It was easy to roll out and manipulate to create yarn ball decorations for my son's cat birthday cake. For my first time using fondant, I thought it was great. This package has a ton of fondant in it, and I'm sure is plenty to cover several layers of cake. I had most of 1 of the 2 packages leftover, as well as an unopened package from this, so it was a ton of fondant for the price. Overall, great!

This fondant is great. It rolled out like a dream after only a few minutes of kneading. I will buy it again. The taste was okay too. I don't love the taste of fondant in general though so my opinion on taste probably means little. But, for creating a beautiful presentation it absolutely gets the job done!

I make a lot of fondant accents for cakes and needed a decent vegeterian fondant (no egg or animal gelatin) and this satisfied the critieria. It ships well and arrives at most with a day of delay which is expected with the covid19 pandemic. I like that it doesnt have egg or gelatin. It tastes like any orbit gum when you open it from a freshpack and pop it in your mouth MINUS any of the flavor. That is the exact texture. It is excessively sweet but it is fondant so that is expected. I live in a rather dry climate and find that it is very very stretchy and needs quite a bit of cornstarch or tylose powder to make it workable. It dries a bit slow so you have to plan for that when using it for items that have to stand up by themselves. It takes wilton gel food colors really well. I attach my accents and keep the cake in a box in the fridge till ready to eat but I did notice that it still seems to sweat quite a bit. So if painting over it with a color, be mindful that it will sweat quite a bit. Overall i have bought it a third time and I see myself getting it again so not a bad choice if you want a veg fondant. I havent covered a full cake with it so cant say anything how that would work.

Love this fondant. Been making cakes for over 13 years. I use to hate Wilton fondant but they have improved their recipe tremendously. It's the most versatile out of all the defendants available. And I work for a cake supply shop. I have even made cake decorators that "hate" wilton fondant just because other cake decorators tell them to buy "higher end" ones (they're drinking the kool aid and kissing up) try this fondant without even telling them its wilton and they love it. For those who say it's a gummy mess probably need to practice a bit more. But I always recommend this for beginners AND professionals. For figurines I like adding a bit of tylose and case closed.

I was a complete noob when it came to using fondant but I was determined to learn. After doing a ton of research I decided to try Fondarific first because I'd read it was quite easy to work with so people new to fondant would have better results. I'd read that the taste of Wilton's fondant wasn't great, so that factored into my choice as well. Long story short I couldn't make the Fondarific do anything for me. It was sticking to my work surface, and I couldn't even lift a piece of it up. Back to the drawing board, I learned next that where you live may affect how a fondant performs. I live in FL so it was likely that the Fondarific was reacting to how humid it is here. My next try was Wilton. By this time I'd seen some folks saying the flavor had been improved upon, so it seemed the way to go. I was so happy with the result! I was able to roll out the Wilton and lift and cover my cake just like I saw on the internet! I've used Wilton Preferred since then and always had good results and never any complaints about the taste, so bonus! Given that's the extent of my knowledge in fondant use, that's all I have to offer. But I felt that mentioning the humidity factor might help someone so I thought I'd share. After baking a cake from scratch and getting ready to decorate it I like to cut myself some slack and buy fondant ready made. I always get wilton fondant. It’s just the right consistency and is easy to work with. I can buy in large quantities and vacuum pack the rest for later. I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s easy to roll it thin and it stays together when transferring it from the tabletop to the cake. It tastes ok, I’m not a fan of eating it but my kids and some adults I’ve served it to enjoy eating it like candy. It’s a bit like taffy which is good if you like taffy but it is very, very sweet.

This fondant is very easy to use and the decorations we made with this fondant look amazing. It was easy to tint this white fondant in different colors and the price can't be beat. Highly recommend.

This fondant works very well, especially for someone who is not a professional baker. I do not use anything other that Wilton fondant. The taste of the less coloured options is really good and it is super easy to work with. In this box there is also enough fondant for a giant cake and add-ons. Love this product.
