works great
This is a great wireless keyboard. We bought it to use on a PC we hooked to our 46" LCD TV. It is perfect. We can sit on our couch and use the computer on the big screan. The range is great and we have had no problems. We did have a problem in the beginning because were we stored it a key must have been pushed on and the battery died before the next use. We are now more careful how we store it. The mouse pad is great for sitting on the couch where there is no practical way to use a mouse or track ball. The size is perfect and light weight.

BUYER BEWARE - Manufacturer has changed this product.
Unless the ad has been redone, the picture of the keyboard shown is of the old version of this Adesso keyboard with the Cirque touchpad powered by Cirque's wonderful Glidepoint software. You can tell the Cirque touchpad because it had a light grey triangle in the upper right corner. Adesso has recently started making the AKB-410UB keyboard with a cheap, generic touchpad that has no software to power it so it uses the Microsoft mouse controller built into the operating system, which isn't designed to power a touchpad. I use Windows XP and Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 may have better mouse controllers although my research online doesn't support that. With the Glidepoint software, that powers the old versions of this keyboard, you can set your operating system's mouse controller, on the Pointer Options tab, to "enhance pointer precision," then, using the Glidepoint software, not only increase the speed of the pointer but increase the acceleration. This ability to increase the acceleration is the key to having a good experience with a touchpad. When you increase speed, the pointer moves faster across your screen, covering more distance in a single drag, but you loose accuracy. But when you can also control the acceleration and set it high, you can lower the speed, and end up where a quick drag of about an inch across the touchpad moves the pointer from one side of the screen to the other, whereas a slow drag the same distance moves it a lesser distance. With the "enhance pointer precision" turned on, with very slow drags, you have wonderful precision control or your pointer. But all that wonderful control is only with the old Adesso AKB-410UB keyboards, with the touchpads with the light grey triangle in the upper right corner. The new versions of the AKB-410UB have a dark grey touchpad with three white lines on the far right. This is both on the keyboard and on the box containing it. You cannot have "enhance pointer precision" turned on with these new keyboards because your pointer movies so slowly, even with the speed set to the highest level, that it will take about a dozen drags across the touchpad to move the pointer across the screen. I am typing this with one of the new keyboards right now and have "enhance pointer precision" turned off and the pointer speed set at the highest setting, and it takes me three drags to move across the screen. With the "enhance pointer precision" turned on, it takes twelve drags. With the old ones and Glidepoint, it was one quick drag.Another problem with the new versions of the AKB-410UB is it suffers from terrible keyboard bounce. Keyboard bounce is when you hit a key once and get two or more characters. I never had keyboard bounce with the old version, but I cannot type a complete sentence with the new one without correcting keyboard bounce errors, particularly with i's and o's.The three white lines on the right of the new touchpads are to let you know that you can scroll by dragging your finger up and down the right side of the touchpad. But also with the new one, if you tap the right side of the touchpad, it is the equivalent of clicking the right mouse button. With Glidepoint, you could turn this on or off. With the new version, it is on whether you like it or not and about half the time when you go to scroll, when you touch the right side of the keyboard to make your scroll, the right click menu pops up instead of scrolling happening. You then have to stop what you were doing, and move the pointer to a neutral area of your screen where you can tap it for a left click (or press the left mouse button) in order to get rid of it the menu. Then and only then can you return to trying to scroll again. And as for tapping on the touchpad for your mouse clicks, which you could turn on or off with Glidepoint, tapping is on whether you like it or not and the sensitivity is totally inconsistent. Sometimes you brush the touchpad and it counts as a left click whereas other times, you sit there and tap and tap and tap trying to get it to register as a left click. Sometimes it simply won’t do it and you have to revert to the left mouse button. Getting a right click with a double tap is even more troublesome.I spend about 8 to 10 hours a day on my computer to do my job (I write legal briefs) and this new version of the AKB-410UB adds about 20 - 30 minutes to my workday. I love the layout, with the touchpad right below the space bar so when you need to move the pointer, your hand only moves a couple of inches instead of six to eight inches to reach a touchpad on the right (or a mouse), and I have been using the AKB-410UB for years and years. Logitech has a small keyboard with a touchpad but with theirs, the touchpad is on the right, but they do have their own software that allows you to control pointer acceleration as well as speed, and as it stands, I am going to switch to a Logitech after I wear out the four old versions of the AKB-410UB I managed to buy online.I tried a keyboard very similar to the AKB-410UB sold by Gear Head, but it not only lacked any sort of software to power the touchpad, it also lacked the scrolling feature. I have combed the internet trying to find a keyboard like the AKB-410UB, that uses touchpad software and has the touchpad below the space bar but with no luck. I am also considering buying a keyboard like the AKB-4100Ub without a touchpad and mounting it on a piece of model builders plywood and mount a Cirque touchpad in front of it. I will most likely do that rather than use a Logitech and have to reach for the touchpad all the time.If you have an old version of the AKB-410UB that still works, I urge you to do everything you can to extend its life. The key markings come right off but I found years ago I could Décapage them (Décapage is that really thick clear coating you see on some restaurant tables and is used in hobbycraft a lot. You mix up to chemicals the consistency of honey, apply them to the tops of your key caps, let it sit overnight, and you have a clear coating that is about an eighth of an inch thick.) If you don't use touchpad tapping for your left and right mouse clicks, go into Glidepoint and switch on the tapping feature and learn to use it to make your left mouse button lasts longer because other than the key markings coming off, the failure of the left mouse button is usually the thing that makes the keyboard unusable. Remember typewriter keys that had the markings embedded into the key cap so it couldn’t wear off. Ahhh, the days of quality. Those days are history.I hope this helps.

My third one of these, all of which I've been happy with.
This perfectly replicates the keyboard on a laptop I had and loved for years. I'm a touch typist and the action is perfect for me and the touch pad is very responsive. One might think going through 2 of them prior to this one indicates a lack of quality but that is not the case, I spend ALOT of time in front of a computer.

It's perfect, my 2nd one
This is not a super quiet keyboard but it is the only wired keyboard with a trackpad in the center that I could find. I bought the exact same one which lasted 2 full years of every day use, heavy typing. One of the letters finally quit and I couldn't fix it. I like a track pad, I have a small space. Great solution for both.

Sucks!
This thing sucks and it is NOT wireless. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Also, anytime you tap the touchpad and move your fingers to scroll, it clicks things open you never intended on opening - which really makes no sense since there are left and right click buttons below the touchpad. In other words, it's unnecessarily redundant. It sucks! Not what I wanted, at all!

Noisy but functional
The keyboard is extremely light. The plastic does feel cheap, but that doesn't bother me since that's probably why it weighs so little. I use Windows XP and it was totally plug and play, no drivers required. The track pad is fine. Not the best one I've used, but perfectly okay. I haven't experience the jumpiness that someone else described. The USB cable is ridiculously long, about six feet. I use my keyboard right next to my UMPC, so I actually only need a cable a fraction that length. Unfortunately, one end is permanently attached to the keyboard so it's not possible to swap it out with a shorter cable. The reason I'm only giving this keyboard four stars instead of five is that it's extremely noisy. Each keystroke makes a loud clicking sound, which is a real drag. I wish they'd made it like the keyboard on my MSI U100, which is almost silent. In fact, I am going to knock the rating down to three stars, because you really can't use the keyboard anywhere you have to be quiet in consideration of others, such as a library or even on a plane. When all is said and done, I am still glad I bought this keyboard. The integrated touchpad means I can use it on my lap, plus it's compact and light enough to tuck into my bag.
