Q: would they fit on a 2009 sportster 1200 custom?

I replaced my highway pegs on my 2006 HD Sportster 883 L and they work great for me

Q: Is the footpad area 4 1/4 inches or total length including mounting post 4 1/4 inches?

The footrest is 4 & 1/4 inches and you have to buy the mounting brackets you desire separately, I bought mine from Harley-Davidson for $45 a pear
