These 51's are nice kits.
I haven't opened this one, but I know these build up nice. Same for the Fleetline version, that I do have open.. This hardtop is in my lineup to be done at a later date. Also shipping was next day, free on Prime.

51 Chevrolet Bel Air camo
Nice kit with a 6 cylinder engine. Stock or race, I had saved a flying tiger decal and bought a checker board decal and did this.

The all new for 1951 Chevy Bel Air, performance, power and class- made in America!
Wow, to return to the days of yesteryear when cars were a work of art, had a grace and style all of their own, and were a joy to drive, and easy to service! AMT lest you get close with the 1951 Chevy Bel Air! Build one of two ways, well really three if you want (stock, drag, or mix in a little custom here and there). I built mine stock, as I do all of my cars, this left me with a few left over parts and almost an entire decal sheet for the spares box. the kit comes molded(a bit soft to be honest) in an almost bone white. There's not a lot of parts, but what there are will challenge your patience like never before. The box says the kit is for ages 10 to adulthood. I challenge any 10 year old to build this kit out of the box. I'm an experienced model builder, I've been doing models for 40 years and I still had work cut out for me. The kit is pretty straightforward AMT, so be prepared. To anyone not familiar with AMT model kits, they tend to really compress the directions down to the absolute bare minimum, but still expect you to build quite a bit per step. there's a LOT going on and if you don't pay attention, you'll get lost and miss things. The instructions can be a bit vague about absolute placement of some parts, and painting suggestions are all over the place. It's a good idea to do a little research before you start the kit so you know what you're up against. The kit itself went together fine, to a point... you'll have problems aligning the separate fenders with the radiator shroud, aligning the two air ducts running from the radiator to the firewall, and getting the body to fit if you use the rear tire shrouds- I left mine off because there wasn't clearance for the wheels and the body to sit right. The engine mounting was another mystery, Im not sure I ever had a kit where there were no mounting tabs for the engine , it just kind of sits in the engine bay not really secured to anything. I had an issue with the rear splash pan as well, as it comes out way to far for the bumper to mate to the body the way it should, so I left mine off, and just glued the bumper to the body. I also left the side glass and rear windows off, as they would have hidden all the time and detail I put into the interior. the major problem with the kit was the mating of the body to the frame/interior- there just isn't any really nice way to do it without running the risk of breaking something else. Im pretty sure whoever wrote the directions and actually made the molds were in separate offices across the country, because nothing fit the way it should. This being an older mold, It's a wonder kits like this ever got put together in the first place. It's definately a challenging kit aimed at more experienced builders. It gave me a run for my creative talents and pushed me- so I guess it did it's job, I just wish the overall fit was a little better.

Great kit for the money. Good price and good options for customization.
Great model kit. Easy to put together and perfect as my nephew-in-law was rebuilding this exact care. Awsome kit.

Cool Ol Chevy
Liked the quick delivery, but would have preferred it came in a protective box instead of a bubble envelope. But the model was ok.
