God's goodness revealed through the Salvation Army
Outstanding biographical account of two extraordinary Christians, who were led by God to help millions of people through the Salvation Army. In an era where faith based groups are under attack, we see that is not necessarily a new problem. It shows we can serve outside our faith communities, to demonstrate the love of Jesus with those who will never set foot in a church, and is a great inspiration to take those steps of faith. I pray Christian parents give this to their children to read.

Bringing the things of darkness to light
We homeschool a 12 year old and chose the major theme of colonialism this year. We use the same theme for geography, literature, history, grammar, Bible and government. Janet Benge's beautifully written book about William Booth's Salvation Army fulfills all of the above. The world sees "the Victorian age." Booth showed the dark underbelly and did something about it.

Encouragement to all Christians to live for Christ!
This is the account of a man who truly lead a life 100% discarded to Jesus Christ. Imagine if all Christians served God with 10% of their life. Our world would be transformed. We should all seek to emulate William Booth. This book is well worth your time. It is written in a way suitable for everyone probably 5th grade and above.

Addiction Alert! My children won't put these books down!
This series of books is captivating! I enjoy them every bit as much as my children do. Even my nearly 14-year old son cannot put them down! We own about 4 of them now - but my children have requested the entire series. Little-by-little, hopefully we can do that for them! The books are exciting, moving, and are great faith-builders. The missionaries featured become heroes in the eyes of my children. I cannot recommend this series high enough. Hope you'll give it a try!

Fascinating and Very Readable!
Even though I knew bits and pieces of William Booth's story - I found this a fascinating read!I was especially intrigued with how God began to shape his life by turning an amazing "find", into an opportunity to help a fellow student. It took a number of years for God to shape his heart into something He could use - but use it He did - worldwide!I recommend it heartily!

I bought this book for my stepdad and he really enjoyed it, he seldom put the book down until he reached the last page, whereupon he appeared to pick it up and read through it again, he used to be in the salvation army so this was a very interesting read for him, and I am delighted that he enjoyed it so much

A must read!!!!
An easy to read and comprehend book yet with detailed description of the life of General William Booth. What an amazing life- one of total surrender to the King of kings. A life of giving and selflessness. If only we could all live such a life. A life whose focus is holiness and seeing the will of a God established on earth. A better read I couldn't recommend.
