Great replacement for older model Carefree winch.
Used the new P92001 winch to replace my old P30001 Carefree winch. For clarity sake the P92001 is the same as the P55012. The first being OEM verses replacement. The winch used the same bolt pattern as the old one and was fairly easy to install. For cabling there is just the power cable to go up to the battery and the line going to the switch. The stop and start adjustment is also much easier than the previous unit. One small gotcha is the new spindle is larger so if your cable is already on the short side you might not have enough to get the recommended 2-3 winds at the down position. I only got about 1.5. Hopefully it will be enough. The new winch uses less power than previous models. The wires are thinner and it only has a 40A breaker on it verses 50A before. This one can also lift 1200 lbs. Since it no longer uses a worm drive lubricating the gears is not required per Carefree support. The new unit is very loud in operation but it works well and is pretty fine.

Works great, easy to install, and noisy.....
This model P92001 replaces the poorly designed previous model P30001 with the worm gear motor. The old P30001 worm gear motor was a terrible design. The old motor won't last long and the manual override bolt will break after a few uses. This model P92001 appears to be a more robust design. The worm gear drive has been replaced with a direct drive gear. The motor is more powerful and the roof raises much faster. Others have commented that the electric motor makes a lot of noise. Just take what you think would be a noisy electric motor and then double the noise. I would not want to set up my camper in a campground after dark. I will trade the noise for a more robust electric lift, however. The installation was easy since the unit fit the same mount as the old P30001. Larry

Perfect replacement for my Flagstaff PUP
Very strong but very loud winch. It brings the top of my 2008 Flagstaff up in like 8 seconds flat. But if you arrive late night in a campground and raise your roof you’re gonna make a lot of enemies in that 8 seconds! Installation was not easy but if you’re handy it’s not bad. Generic top and bottom covers did not fit on my PUP at all so I had to go with original lift cover. Not the end of the world but a new cover would be nice. Wiring was straightforward. Setting the limits was made difficult by the need to turn the little tool like 100 rotations before you get to the point where the limit switch actually cuts in. Other than that very straightforward. If you have an older PUP you may wish to buy a replacement cable. I found my cable was pretty badly frayed. I had previously ordered an OEM replacement from Goshen lift. Gave them my VIN and they made it to order. Consider it a $50 insurance policy. It paid off for me. To summarize this winch gets the job done. Hopefully I’ll get years of service from it. I’m a satisfied customer.

Perfect in fitment and function !
Replaced the old (non working) system on our 2007 Rockwood Freedom 1950 Pop Up. Exact fitting replacement. This new motor really puts the top up fast! easy to install in the same mounting holes as the old motor. One thing you should know this motor is loud! This is the newest version of this motor and is a huge improvement in design. They even replace the small manual nut to a bigger 3/4" nut should you need to use it if you battery dies. Glad I changed it out no more having to use a drill.

I thought I was prepared for how loud it is...
...but I still wasn't. Even after all of the reviews. My god, they install this on all new Rockwood campers? It's perversely loud. It does move the top up pretty quickly, taking 20-ish seconds to raise it fully, even with starting to strain a bit about halfway up. But the noise almost makes me want to return it and go with a manual crank. Installation is very simple in terms of mounting it. My only challenge had to do with getting the old winch to let go of the cable, and then feeding a somewhat frayed end into the new winch, but this obviously has nothing to do with the new winch. The only difficulty related to the new winch was setting the stop limits. I had to turn the plastic screws A LOT to get them to where I needed. I had started to think that they weren't working. Only other thing is that I didn't need a new cover since the old one fits, at least on my Rockwood Freedom. I don't know why it includes one. Sure, the old cover doesn't have a hole for access to the manual crank, but then again, neither does the new one. In summary, it gets the job done. But like someone else said, I'd feel pretty embarrassed rolling into a campground later at night and setting up and maybe even worse disrupting the quiet woods on a more remote campsite.

Easy installation, works as advertised
I bought this lift motor to replace the existing lift motor (Carefree P30001) on my 2007 Starcraft Centennial 3608. The installation was straight forward and fit the existing bolt holes. The switch is on the opposite side, so we had to come up with a solution to the new switch placement, but that was easy enough. The hardest part was removing the cable from the old unit and installing it on the new unit. That cable is not fun to work with. However, the operation is ridiculously fast (less than 30 seconds to lift the camper fully). One problem we had was the upper and lower limit settings. They are located in a very difficult place to reach and the tool they send (flexible plastic hex head) broke pretty quickly. Will try to figure out a different way to get to and adjust this, but the camper raises and lowers all of the way, so no real rush there. Overall, very happy with this product.

Unit is a direct replacement and much easier to adjust. Very fast. But rather noisy (just not for very long as it lifts much faster that the original)

Read many reviews stating about how noisy those winch were. I thought how bad could it be!! It is 3 time as loud as the genuine unit. Bottom lines, it works but you will wake your neighbours if you get to the campsite at night !

Easy to install. Works great!

This product works well but it is extremely noisy. After reading other reviews, i see that this is just the way it is. The motor is strong however the gear ratio makes it noisy.

The unit was an exact replacement for the old system, fit perfectly with absolutely no modifications. The motor is definitely loader than the old unit but it works way faster. Very happy with the results will buy again if the opportunity is there
