Easy to adjust from 60mm to 70mm
Clean solid design. I was trying to tune my clarinet for playing in my band outside in 50 degree cold. Unfortunately the shortest 60mm was not short enough. Some experimentation led me to discover that what I needed was a barrel about 54mm in length. There are some available on the Amazon site.

Excellent! Just a couple things to know...
I have had one of these for several years and I love it. I restore and fine-tune vintage clarinets. Often original barrels are missing or not optimum. This barrel lets me dial in the optimum length for best tuning. It sounds great on a variety of clarinets. I've adjusted mine a lot. I never removed or added lubricant. It adjusts very smoothly (a pleasure) just like new. It's made of aluminum, very well machined. The black coating is durable. Mine still looks like new, inside and out.Beware: It fits too tight on some instruments. You may need to sand down your tenon cork a bit, or have it done a shop. Don't force it! Sometimes even the tenon itself needs to be reduced a hair. Any repair shop can do this. I wouldn't hesitate because it's probably the only barrel you'll ever need. Also understand that it has a telescoping structure. So as it extends, it forms a little gap that you'll see looking into the bottom. Oddly, the gap HELPS the tuning and tonal depth of some instruments – Really! But if you extend it way up to around 67 mm length (unlikely) the gap gets quite long and may cause some tuning irregularity. So, if you play in a variety of temperature conditions or with string players who may not hold tuning well, this barrel is a blessing.

Solved intonation problems.
I am a woodwind doubler, playing mostly sax and clarinet. I don't practice clarinet enough so when I need to double on clarinet I sometimes play a little flat. This barrel solved my problem. I am playing a musical and played with the barrel the first time tonight. It worked perfectly and the problem went away. I highly recommend!

Did not fit some mouthpieces.
The upper part of the barrel is too tight for some of my clarinet mouthpieces. I had to go picking and choosing through my collection to find one that fit.

Please check for Dimensions so you don't break it
Okay first of all disclaimer these are the experiences I had with my product it is very possible that I had a faulty Barrel but RS Berkeley had no way for me to contact them and get a refundFirst of all it was way too tight for what I would consider to be a pretty standard clarinet my German made plastic Evette through some cork work I was finally able to get it on my clarinet but through me man handling it broke something in the system they kept the two components together not to mention the ridiculous amount of grease in the mechanism now I can't get the lower half of the barrel off of my clarinet and it will probably have to go to a shop where they might snap my upper joint trying to pry it off even when I do get to use the barrel on my instrument it did some weird things to the tone and helped with tuning in the Shalimar register once you got to the upper Clarion it actually had the opposite effect
