Works great with Cross Bailey. I have 6 Cross Baileys and 6 of these converters. They are obviously made to go together

I feel fancy now that I can use bottled ink!
I like fountain pens. I find them to be fun, and while I'm not obsessed with them, if I find a nice one for a song, I'll clean it up and give it a good home. I recently came across a vintage Cross fountain pen in just such an event, but I had no ink cartridges for it, and I'd always wanted to try bottled ink -- so I decided to get Cross ink adapter, hoping it'd fit. It did! (In case it helps anyone, my pen is a Century Classic model, and almost certainly made during the 1980s.) The converter is easy enough to dip-and-fill with ink once installed, but I do find that there's always an unfilled space larger than what I'd expect. I'll keep working on that and maybe if I figure out any tips, I'll update -- no promises though; reviewers tend to suck at making good on promised future updates, and I'm no exception. Otherwise, it works like an ink cartridge and it makes me happy to be able to use bottled ink for a change. :-)

This converter works great!
I go back far enough that I can remember when fountain pens were filled from an ink bottle and you didn't have cartridges to worry about. I also remember when the cartridge pens came out and everybody thought they were all the rage but the people who were happiest were the companies that made the cartridges because they are the ones that made all the money. Now you cannot buy a fountain pen but isn't a cartridge pen unless you buy a converter, and I have to tell you that this converter for a Cross pen is really a great Appliance. It's a wonderful addition to this fountain pen but also you know that you're not going to have to constantly be worrying about running out of ink when you are writing. It is so economical and really saves a pile of money.

DO NOT BUY!!! Does not fit Calais pen!
I bought this for my Calais pen. When I put it in, it would not fit. The converter is too long and the pen would not screw closed at all. The pieces in the photo are pushed together as much as I possibly could without damaging the pen or converter. And to make matters worse, I had to pay more money to send it back than the converter cost! So now, I'm stuck with a pen converter that I cannot use, and a pen that has no ink(the ink for a cross pen is way too expensive. I will not pay over a dollar for a single cartridge that isn't even filled all the way). Listen to the negative reviews! If you can't find a positive review listing your pen and sating specifically that it works and that they like it, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!

Perfect for the Solo, Townsend and Aventura fountain pens
I got a Cross Burgundy and 23k Gold Solo Medium Nib Fountain Pen without the converter so I wrote to Cross and asked them what converter I should buy. Their representative was very helpful and told me that the 8751 (green cartridge) would do. The Cross price is $5.00 plus 4.95 shipping -- you can order by phone via the rep or on their website; Amazon's was 6.95 and as I am prime no shipping, so I ordered from here. The back of the package tells you how to put the converter into the pen pictorially and while the converter was a little stiff getting in it did so with a little extra push and fit the Solo well, I have had no leaks, and most of all I can use my Noodler's Fountain Pen Ink, Baystate Concord Grape, 3oz. bottle ink so I am happy with the converter and Cross customer service. The converter works as it should, is made in Germany & can be used for the Solo, Townsend and Aventura lines. HTH /TKL

I won a Cross cartridge pen in a crossword competition. The pen was a cartridge version and I wanted to use as a fountain pen. Previous fountain config adapters I've had on various different pens have relied on squeezing a rubber ink sac to draw up ink into the reservoir and have generally involved a couple of squeezes to get sensible amount of ink and almost inevitably ended up with general inkiness on fingers or desktop. This design costs more, but uses a piston in the barrel and a screw to draw ink into the reservoir. Much more reliable, generally less messy and quick to use. Worth the money with a very nice pen.
