New SSD for my Dell XPS 15 - L502X
I was looking to put a SSD in my laptop to breath some new life into it - this was exactly the thing to do it. Looking around, I had figured that I would get a drive, hook it up with some kind of adapter, and find some free software to hopefully clone the drive. In my search, however, I came across this kit, here was my experience: The kit includes the drive, the external enclosure with USB cable, a little plastic thingy with double stick tape (to increase the thickness of the drive if needed), and a CD. Placing the SSD in the provided enclosure was no big deal, and after looking at the documentation for the whole process (located on the CD), I decided to reboot the computer and boot off the CD to run the cloning utility. The process of selecting what to clone and getting the whole thing started was VERY easy, no big deal at all. The clone software, which is provided by Acronis, did a perfect job. It saw every partition on the drive and cloned it right over, even the recovery partition used to re-image the computer. After about 45 minutes, the clone was completed and I made the physical swap. The computer booted up much faster with the SSD and performed extremely well. After the first boot with the newly cloned drive, Windows did ask me to reboot because it detected some new hardware - thirty seconds later and I'm back to running again. There was some mention of the cloning software not working so well with the hidden recovery partition in some cases, but in my case, there was nothing that went wrong. In fact, just to make sure, I decided to re-image the computer with the recovery partition and that went executed with no problems also - one of the fastest re-images I have ever done. After the re-image process, Windows once again told me that there was a hardware change and asked me to restart. I fully expected this, and as it should be, Windows hasn't told me about it again. I'm sure if I re-image the computer again later that it will tell me about another hardware change. As a final thought, the whole process was very painless and I am very pleased with the results. A Kingston drive may not benchmark like a Samsung, but compared to the Western Digital 7200 RPM Scorpio Black drive that was in the computer bfore, the Kingston SSD has breathed new life into my older computer with boot times that are incredibly quick. Also, the aforementioned mechanical drive that was replaced is now sitting in the enclosure that came with the kit and acts as an external drive for whenever I want to backup some extraneous files I have laying around. All in all, this kit was a fantastic purchase - it's like having a new and faster computer because of the added speed.

Breathes New Life Into Old Machines
Breathes New Life Into Old Machines The Kingston V300 SSD was one of the best upgrades I ever made to an aging laptop. Swapping out the old spinning drive for this SSD instantly cut boot times down to seconds and made the system feel brand new again. Programs launched quickly, updates installed without bogging the machine down, and even web browsing felt snappier. For desktops, the 2.5" form factor with the included adapter made installation straightforward. What I especially appreciated was how dependable it felt over time. Being shock-resistant and fanless, there are no moving parts to fail, and it stayed cool even with long daily use. The 240GB capacity is enough for Windows plus a solid selection of programs, though heavy media users may want to pair it with a larger storage drive. This isn’t the fastest SSD by today’s standards—newer models have better sustained write speeds—but compared to a mechanical hard drive, it’s night and day. If you’re using it for general productivity, web, or even light gaming, it does the job beautifully. Bottom line: A cost-effective way to supercharge an older PC or laptop. Reliable, easy to install, and fast enough to make an old system feel like new.

Good price, good performance, meets my expectations.
I have two of these. They are used as boot disk on my Linux servers. What I wanted was a small and reliable disks that runs cool, consume small amount of power, reliable, and reasonably fast. Practically speaking, I would have been fine with regular hard disks (since they rarely get rebooted) but it seemed silly to buy small traditional disks now, so this SSD was my choice. At $39 dollars a piece, it was a good deal. As expected, it gets barely warm, pretty quick, and power usage is minimal. I'll have to see about the reliability but I have no reasons to expect anything better than solid performance. SSDNow V300 is a least costly offering from Kingston, so I'm not expecting bench-mark winning performance. Even then, it's pretty quick. The actual boot time is about 4 seconds. Good enough for the purpose intended. Specification wise, there are faster drives available. There are also drives that don't suffer slow down during large file transfers. But my particular usage isn't affected by those limitations. My suggestions to those who are just starting to look for SSD is to think about your needs and not choose based on bench-mark test results. Good bench mark programs are made to simulate worst case scenario and expose weaknesses. How often do we actually need to transfer gigs of files or do extensive random reads and writes? Not often in most cases. On the other hand, I won't be putting in this drive as data drive for active database servers. (and it's not designed for that use either) I won't hesitate to use these for laptops and desktops, or as a boot drive for servers. (by the way, these are home servers, not in data centers)

Maybe not the faster SSD disk, but it's so far a great update for my laptop (dell xps 17). One of the hard drive stop working and I replace it with this SSD disk. I use it as the boot disk with windows 7 and my programs install on it and keep my documents on the other hard drive. The boot speed is very fast compare to the regular hard drive I had before. My laptop boot in 10 seconds with this SSS disk, before I had to wait a good 3 minutes before being able the start using my computer, now 10 seconds and the computer is ready to use...that's a big improve. To avoid to reduce the lifespan of this SSD disk, I make sure I never defragment the disk and like I wrote above I use it only for Windows 7 and the installed programs. So far I'm surprise by the speed of this SSS disk considering all the bad reviews I read here about it. Will see if the disk will last... I hope it will not stop working after 1 year... I didn't had difficulty to clone my disk when I install this SSD disk. I had an acronis true image copy of main drive who died and was able to recover the image on the new disk. Ok, the graphic of the application is basic and for someone who is not used to work with back up image it can be difficult but I find it quite effective and easy.

This is My 2nd SSD of the same company and model. I have had a 120GB Kingston V300 for the past 1 year, and i have all my games on it. Never had a problem with that model in the last one year. Performs consistently and well enough to not bottleneck my games. I have installed Assassins creed on my 240GB which i got yesterday and played it at consistent 50-60 FPS from this SSD. So no performance bottlenecks from this SSD. Also i have installed 2 games on it till now and write speeds are decent enough. V300 series is much better than the UV400 or UV300, and many sellers here send UV300 instead of V300.

My hard drive died , Toshiba 5400rpm 1TB in my HP Envy 17. I'm not a power user of the laptop so this was a good choice , price and size were good for a quick buy. Easy to install and really fast to load windows 10 from the dvd , , so so quick. This being the first time i have had to deal with a dead hard drive and my laptop out of warranty there were a few nerves at the beginning , but it was so easy to replace the hard drive. Took the power cable out , battery off and one screw out to get at the service bay. Pulled the cable off and removed hard drive and took off this blue rubber thing that was surrounding the hard drive , popped new kingston ssd in the blue rubber thing and popped the cable back in and replaced the service cover with the one screw and i was done. Simple. Putting windows 10 on it was so fast ( longest part was file copying ). Huge improvement on speed as you would expect and as i'm not a power user this drive is perfect for my needs. Windows boots in seconds , and i mean seconds to the desktop. This meets my expectations , cheap and fast giving new confidence and a smile at this nearly 3 year old laptop.

Excelente!
