Great quality sturdy, great price
Received this item 11/21 and it was a used returned item through Amazon definitely dropped the ball on checking their returns! It had been used with hair caught in it, with rust aound the screws, and the cord was shorting out. So i called amazon requesting a new replacement. Representative assured me the nasty broken one did not need returned and I promptly disposed of it in the garbage can! "DISGUSTING" Which I received my replacement from Amazon this morning 11/22 at 5:09 am. Amazon really stepped up on this issue. Definitely "NEW" as you can see. Amazon made it right and I am very happy with the new curler and Amazon Customer Service. You can't really go wrong with the Hot Tool curling iron. Quality is top notch and will definitely will last longer, is slightly heavier than cheaper ones, the temperature controls are great, but must warn you this model and brand does get extremely hot so caution is definitely required when using. I have been using a 2" curling iron from this brand for years both professionally and personally and in my opinion it is well worth the money. I just changed to the 1 -1/2" for a little tighter curl. And very happy. I definitely recommend this model for most but I would probably not use it on super fine hair and would recommend using a heat protecting spray when using this iron. The heat does assure longer lasting curls, but curl size is also determined by the size of the barrel. Loose flowing curls with long hair use a larger size, whereas a tigher curl or short hair you would need a smaller size. But this is a high quality, study curling iron that will definitely provide a longer lasting curl and last years longer than cheaper brands.

Creates nice big curls
I'm a fan of Hot Tools. I've used a previous version curling iron of theirs. It worked well and lasted a long time. So I knew what brand I wanted for my next one. The 1 1/2" barrel is a nice size makes a big curl. They're more on the loose end because of the size. But that's the look I was wanting any way. I have thick hair and like to keep my max setting at 380°. Just to keep the heat damage down. . But it's nice to have the option to raise it if needed. The curl holds and sets well. The overall design is nice. It has a large, thick piece of some type of heat resistant material on the thumb piece. So it keeps you from burning yourself. Like wise on the end of the barrel. It also has a long cord with a swivel that attaches to the base. It keeps the cord from wrapping up while your twisting it. The barrel glides well on your hair and doesnt catch. I'm looking forward to another few years with this iron. Definitely a good buy and worth the affordable price!

Gives you the curls you’re looking for
The Hot Tools 3/4” curling iron is a fantastic tool for creating tight, bouncy curls with ease. It heats up quickly and evenly, and the clamp holds hair securely without causing damage. The smaller barrel size is perfect for more defined curls, and the long-lasting results keep my hair looking great all day. A reliable and durable curling iron that delivers professional-quality curls every time. My only complaint is that it snags my hair every so often.

Love it !
Love this iron! Feels very professional, but still has the plastic tip for us that can’t use the one that doesn’t have that safety feature. Definitely recommend.

Best iron EVER!
I'm 72 and have used irons a long time. Most wouldn't get hot enough to hold the curl for long, which is a big problem for below the shoulder length hair that is thin and has little to no body on top but a little body ears down to the ends. This iron took my hair that looked horrible because I had just started steroid pills and flexeril for a pinched nerve in my neck, coupled with a sinus flare-up which left me just plain miserable. So, my hair after 2 days of "out of it mentality" was in really bad shape. Took me maybe between 15 and 20 minutes to try out my brand new curling iron. First thing I noticed when sliding the hair onto the rod and clamping it, was that, it happened quickly and painlessly. No pulling hair because of the clamp. The clamp held my hair neatly as I curled my hair around it. A big plus. Everything went so easily. I returned "my last ordered iron" because the clamp wouldn't hold my hair while I tried to roll it. That iron cost a lot more than this one too. Anyway, this iron rolled and held my hair nicely leaving it long and fuller than I expected, and after cooking chicken alfredo and making tea my hair still has some body left. Usually, there would be zilch body, none whatsoever because of steam and some light sweating in a hot kitchen. So, I truly, truly love this iron. It is worth every penny. Matter of fact I purchased another one today. It's on sale and I am blessed to have caught it at this low price. I personally would highly recommend this quality, and, not to forget, very pretty gold color curling iron. And, the handle is perfect holding size and the whole iron is light in weight. I'm a extremely happy customer. 10 stars.

Disappointed
As someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, curling irons were practically a personality trait. I worked in a beauty supply store back then, and I remember very clearly that Helen of Troy’s Hot Tools line was considered top-tier. They were reliable, sturdy, and built to last. I still have my old ½-inch iron from those days and it works perfectly. Because of that history, when I wanted a larger barrel I didn’t even hesitate. I went straight back to the brand I trusted: Hot Tools. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely disappointing. Right away I noticed the clamp didn’t close tightly unless I added extra pressure with my hand. Within just a few uses, the plastic thumb piece popped off. I was able to snap it back on at first, but it kept happening. Soon after that, the metal piece that connects the thumb lever started bending downward, which means I now have to physically bend it back up just to get enough leverage to close the clamp. At this point I’ve glued the plastic back on multiple times and even wrapped it with electrical tape just to keep it usable. Even with that, I still have to bend the metal piece several times during each use. It feels flimsy and cheaply made, and it’s hard to imagine it lasting much longer. What’s frustrating is that I know this company is capable of making quality tools. I’ve seen it. I still own one from decades ago that works better than the one I just bought. It’s disappointing to see prices go up while the durability and build quality seem to go down. I really expected better from a brand that once set the standard.
