Beautiful piece for countertops!!!
Worth it! I really liked it, very sturdy & perfect size. Easy to use, clean, good weight. Granite gives a traditional, timeless aesthetic. Looks great on my kitchen countertop. The rough surface on the inside is great, it helps crush and grind efficiently without ingredients slipping around, especially garlic, ginger, cumin and peppercorns, etc.

Great quality
Great quality! We’ve had this for a few years and it’s been working wonders. Very durable and a bit heavy but definitely worth the price!

Very substantial
Wow, this is one serious piece of rock. In hindsight, I should have ordered the smaller size. I got the large (5.6'') dark marble version. It looks fantastic, and I like the modern style, so different from the typical "same as they've always been since the Bronze Age" mortar and pestle look. This thing is kind of the ultimate in mortar and pestles. I almost feel like I could grind up concrete in this thing. I like that it has a shallow side, which with the wider, flatter end of the pestle will be good for things like coriander and cumin seed and such. If your goal is more toward guacamole and masa usage instead of spice-grinder, you probably do want the large version, but in the granite, which is rougher, more toward a traditional molcajete. Though if you're all about guac and masa, you should probably just get an actual molcajete. Mine arrived without any damage. Unlike some prior reviewers, I got one that did not have any glue-patched cracks. I guess the manufacturer has stopped doing that in response to complaints, or I just got lucky. The box included a note to contact the mfr. for an immediate replacement if it arrives damaged. You just supply them a picture of the broken part. I would surmise you don't have to send it back to them. However, if you get one with a glued crack, I don't know if they'll respond the same way, and you might have to do an Amazon return if you don't trust the factory repair they did. Anyway, this IS natural stone; it will have some irregularities and imperfections. However, I find the grinding surfaces on each side of each tool to be even, effective, and exactly what I expected. This is definitely a gift-quality piece, appropriate for someone who cooks (for real, from scratch) a lot and for a family, and who is not arthritic or otherwise weakened, since this is a large, heavy piece. For a little ol' granny, or someone living alone in an apartment, a mortar and pestle half this size would be quite sufficient. If you need one for grinding medications, not for (or not just for) cooking, then get a steel one, since medicines should not get into food, but a stone m&p will retain some since it's porous at the microscopic level.

Perfect addition for any chef!
This is an awesome piece of kitchen equipment. It has two different bowls within the same block of stone which allows you to grind up spices using different methods. The pestle is a great weight and allows for smooth grinding motions. Pros: Well Made Coarse enough to grind down all spices Not to large that it becomes a pain to move around Rubber mat is useful and keeps the product in place Looks great on a counter top Cons: Nothing really to complain about here. Overall it is an awesome product at a reasonable price!

Great
Although I've owned/used the same Krups electric spice grinder for decades, I've always yearned for an "old fashioned" mortar & pestle. Did some internet research. This one from Laevo Cook seems to fit the bill. It was promptly delivered in tact. It looks good, the dark gray granite body with the etched leaf topped and bottomed by the lighter granite. Timeless design? It is heavy & sturdy. Same with the pestle although someone with large hands might find it short. The silicone lid is great; it creates an air tight seal. The small wooden spoon is a must have. Very good quality at a reasonable price. Over a two day period I cured both bowls (rice, then garlic, cumin, kosher salt) twice. Washed with water, air dried. Then it was time for a simple guacamole. Scrunched up a little chopped white onion, jalapeno, cilantro, & sea salt into a paste. Scrunched in some lime juice. Mashed in the chopped flesh of one avocado. Chopped up & stirred in with the small wooden spoon one small deseeded plum tomato from my garden. Adjusted with sea salt & fresh ground black pepper. Voila! Over the next two hours, my white corn tortilla chips & I made repeated trips to that mortar bowl on the kitchen table. The silicone lid created an airtight seal; the guacamole didn't brown. The small wooden spoon came in handy for scraping out the last bit of guac. I've already purchased a replacement avocado. Basil pesto is on deck. Con: The larger bowl is @ 4.5" wide x 2.25" deep. That will likely be sufficient to grind spices for most recipes. But for guacamole, pestos, salsas, etc. for more than one or two people, you'll want a larger mortar & pestle. Pro: It's a keeper! I'll just buy a traditional lava molcajete for the larger jobs.

Made of good quality granit. Its heavy as anyone would expect granit to be. Seems well made. I think my daughter is going to love it. Its a Christmas gift so it hasn't been used yet.

Very usable and well-made product. Anti-slip rubber mat is perfect.
This was perfect for our kitchen. You can’t go wrong with a solid granite piece like this. Flipping the bowl over, to have a smaller bowl, is a nice touch. And the anti-slip pad, that comes with it, works beautifully.
