LYRA Rembrandt Splender Pencil

Success depends on the ‘type’ of colouring pencil, in my experience
Everyone has a their own favourite tools for the trade and the success of this type of item is often dictated by the type of colouring pencils being used, as in my case. I think it is very useful to have the chance to buy a single pencil to ‘try it & see’ as I do with all my art ‘tools’ if I can.I am not an expert in this field, but this one appears to be best suited to oil-based pencils. Online tutorials are handy.Ready-to-use on arrival, the round-barrelled pencil is around 17 cm in length. It sharpens well with a regular holed sharpener, also in my experience.A potentially useful note I found that is not currently on the product detail:📝 ‘LYRA Rembrandt Splender Pencils are top quality polishers for artists, graphic artists, and designers. The benefits of Rembrandt Splender can best be seen in coloured drawing. By applying pressure to the polisher, your colour drawing will transition from a dense colour to a reduced area with a glossy surface. These colourless pencils blend strokes together by filling in and reducing lines, and at the same time polishing drawings. They work best with oil-based or liquid wax pencils. They will take your artwork from good to splendid.Rembrandt Splender Polishers are AP certified non-toxic.’

The best blender pencil I have found so far and also one of the cheapest.
I've recently started to explore coloured pencils as a medium and wanted to find a good blender pencil. So far I've tried the ones made by Derwent, Caran D'Ache and Lyra on their respective brands and also across my burgeoning collection of other makes of pencil.I wasn't taken with the Derwent blender which seemed to push the pigment across the paper causing streaking or the Caran D'Ache Full Blender which didn't work as shown with Luminance and also laid down way too much shiny wax onto the paper.Fortunately this was a case of third time lucky. The Lyra Splender works a treat. It blends pencil strokes efficiently without lightening the colour dramatically or adding too much wax. (It is worth noting that all these blenders will affect the pencil colour and texture to some extent but I found the Splender did this least and was easy to erase if I had erred.)This is the best blender pencil I have found so far and is also one of the cheapest. Recommended.

Not sure how to use it but it is my fault I think
Not sure it does anything but perhaps I I don't know how to use it. I am new to colour pencils. It does smooth the colour and make it look nice but I am not sure about how to use it to blend it

Lyra Splender Blender Pencil
I was delighted to find this pencil for sale on Amazon UK because it's a brand that's not available to purchase on the high street or UK art shops. This blending pencil is designed to help you achieve seamless blending from one pencil colour into another and, pushes your pencil lay down into the tooth of the paper so that you achieve a smoother finish to your colouring.I found that it not only gave me a smooth transition between colours but eradicated graininess and pencil strokes. As you can see from the photo' I've uploaded, the finish looks almost like pencil rather than paint. This blending pencil seems best suited to wax and oil based pencils however I've found it also works well with aquarell pencils.

Utterly gutted! And Amazon won't refund!!!! PRODUCT SPLINTERED
Unbelievable! This blender just arrived and already felt flimsy, and only by sharpening it, it broke into half and splintered!Amazon doesn't let me "return" a 2 quid item without having to DROP IT OFF AT AN EVRI STORE!!! which is miles and miles away! That's a way to make money as well and don't take responsibility! No chance to get in touch, no clarification on how they can sell something so bad! Imagine a CHILD would have had this! Can't attach photo as well, as the app demands full access to all of my phone, instead just the camera. So, so gutted with this.
