Great product. I reduced the height by trimming it with a reciprocating saw and drilled holes in it. Then wrapped it in fiberglass screen so that I could use it in a dirt crawl space. Works great! Love the way they shipped it without packaging. Just stick a label on it, no need for a cardboard box!

Liner has a design flaw in that it does not come with holes to allow water to enter the liner and thus the liner floats up when water is in the vicinity of the liner. After all one would expect to have water in the vicinity of the liner since it is a sump pump liner. I installed mine one day, that night it rained 2 1/2" and the liner and associated piping floated up and destroyed my installation. I had to remove the liner, associated piping, and dig out about a foot of mud that had flowed in under the liner. Then re-install everything. Cost me a day of labor. Fix the design flaw or at least let the customer know about the distinct possibility of needing to drill holes into this liner.I'd give this liner a minus 5 rating if that option were available due to the unnecessary and extra work it caused me due to its design flaw! Buy it if you must, but drill in 20 or so 3/8" holes in the bottom and lower sides unless you want to install it twice. After all it is just a large plastic cup.The cutoff/knockouts for the 4" pipe also are molded in flush with the top of the liner making it nearly impossible to cleanly cut of the knockouts. Other better built liners at the big box stores have these knockouts protruding out about an inch at the top so that one can cleanly saw them off and make a perfect entrance for the 4" drain line.Do NOT buy this model. You will be sorry!!!

The description mentions the lid is not included but the picture shows a lid so always read the fine print. It's not flimsy at all and should last forever.

The problem with this sump pit is that it is much larger than the listed dimensions suggest. The diameter is apparently based upon the bottom, rather than the top. When it arrived, we realized that excavating enough dirt to use this pit would be very difficult. In addition, according to at least two DIY web sites, one must drill holes in the pit before using it. Otherwise, water cannot get into where your pump is located. Furthermore, a common recommendation is to surround the pit with "filter fabric" or "filter cloth," to minimize the influx of dirt, thus avoiding the subsequent decrease in the life of the pump. OK. I was set to go ahead with the project anyway, until I discovered that I could not find "filter fabric" anywhere -- neither on-line nor at local home-products or construction-materials stores. Make sure you are ready for this project, and have everything you need, before you order your pit.

I installed this without a problem but returned several weeks later to find that it had jumped out of the hole I had made. I had to drill holes in it to make it stay where it belonged. Should have come with holes pre-drilled
