Absolutely Amazing
I have recently decided to try out oil painting again. I gave it up when I had my son and we live in such a small apartment that I wasn't comfortable painting with turpentine and other harsh chemicals around my small infant. After 2 years I started missing painting desperately. I needed to find a way to paint without it being toxic for my young child. At first I tried using Lavender essential oil. I had read that back in the day lavender oil was the medium of choice and I can understand why. My paintings would smell absolutely amazing and blending with it was very easy, however it would take days to dry and it got expensive quick. I will keep the paintings I made with them because they are like portable air fresheners. I went on a mad search looking for the supplies I would need to start oil painting again. Most brush cleaners are incredibly toxic and if you aren't 2 it's very easy to avoid ingesting them. However I do have a young child who makes it a habit to try to kill himself at least once a day. I did a lot of research and finally found this! I'm not saying you should pour it in a glass and drink it and it won't be dangerous however by the off chance that my adventurous 2 year old pulls a chair to the cabinet, breaks the child lock, opens my painting containers, pulls this out, dumps it, and puts his fingers in his mouth I won't have to have a heart attack while I take him to the er. For anyone without a child they will probably see this as expensive and useless but I see that it is nontoxic and that's all I need to justify any price. Luckily the price isn't too bad either because this works wonderfully to clean my brushes! It doesn't have an incredibly offensive smell and it is delicate enough to use on my brushes. I spent quite a bit of money on my brushes so I wanted to find something that wouldn't damage them. All in all this is a great buy and as soon as I run out I will be buying more.

Best oil paint brush cleaner!
One use and I’m in love! Works very nicely. Cleans oil paint out of brush well and leaves the bristles soft and clean. Will buy again.

Turpenoid Natural
This is my favorite brush and palette cleaner. It is very effective, without the odor, so it is a good indoor choice. and seems to be gentle on all types of brushes. I haven't used it as a solvent for painting, yet.

Good for Avoiding More Toxic Products
I like the lemony smell of this, and it works well for cleaning brushes, but it probably should not be used to dilute paint, especially not white paint. It allows me to work without turp or mineral spirits; although I use Chelsea Studio products for paint dilution, the natural turp is cheaper for cleaning the brushes.

Really Works Well to clean Paint Brushes with hardened paint
If you have a special art paint brush that you forgot to clean thoroughly, just put it in a small jar of Turpenoid, covering all the bristles. After about a week or so, the paint will be soft again and the brushes my be cleaned to perfection. Turpenoid has saved several expensive brushes over the years and is well worth the money.

Great nontoxic turpenoid with a pleasantly mild citrus smell that does not irritate my eyes as I work!
I use Martin/F. Weber natural turpenoid for colored pencil drawings. It work dissolves and moves around the pigment to fill in the tooth of the paper on which I'm drawing, creating a very smooth finish in my base layers, before I work on fine details. I find that it works better with paper that has a little bit of tooth, such as hot press watercolor paper. If the paper has too smooth of a surface, it may move the pencil more than desired. So, a little experimentation may be required.I have not yet used this turpenoid with other media, but I am sure it would work just as well as other, more irritating turps. I find the scent more pleasant than Gamsol and it is less irritating to my eyes and nose. I'd still recommend using it with proper ventilation, particularly if you are very sensitive to fumes, just to play it safe. But, overall, I don't have any concerns using this as a solvent in my small studio. It is both nontoxic and nonflammable, which, living in a very hot, humid environment at present, I greatly appreciate.

Great brush cleaner
I mostly use this product for cleaning my brushes, I paint with oils and don't like the fumes from regular turpentine, but this works really well as a cleaner, I let the brushes soak for a while, gently massage the bristles to loosen paint residue, and then rinse well with water. Afterwards I use a little pink soap or a soap made for brushes with lanolin and this keeps the brushes soft and also removes any residual turpenoid that may be present. (or you could use a little Dawn or mind soap) then reshape and let dry. This seems to make my brushes last for quite a while, even the inexpensive ones. I originally bought this because I had a sensitive pet, and was afraid the fumes from the turpentine would harm him. So glad I found it.

Meh Went Back to Regular Turpenoid
This is a citrus based substance that does clean your brushes, but I'm not sure of the effect it might have on oils and canvasses in the long run. The consistency is also VERY thick, kind of like syrup. Sure it's been years since I painted in oils, but I had always used regular Turpenoid before and this wasn't that pleasant to paint with. I've gone back to using the regular stuff and it works great, but...WOW! I don't recall it ever being this expensive! Time to break out the coffee filters and reuse as much as possible!Pros: Maybe it's healthier and better for the environment.Cons: Consistency is too thick and I don't know how archival it will be on a painting in the long run. Maybe just use it to clean your brushes?
