Great Dignostic Scanner
I purchased this to check the diagnostic codes on my 2003 Toyota Matrix and 2015 Toyota RAV4. Inside the box comes a usb charger, Users manual and quick start guide along with the scanner. The scanner has a 4" display and is encased in a rubber case. The cord that plugs into the OBD2 port is sturdy. A protective cover comes on the end of the cord to protect the terminals on the end of the plug.Upon the first time that you plug the scanner into a car's OBD2 port, it needs to be set up via WiFi. I tried connecting to my WiFi but it wouldn't connect. Instead, I used my cell phone as a wireless hot spot. The scanner connected right away then. Set up included setting the desired language, country, and time zone. After that, the device gives you the option to download updates. There were a number of updates. It didn't take long to update (I was surprised). After performing updates, the scanner is ready for use. Since I already had it connected to my 2003 Toyota Matrix, I decided to use perform diagnostics. The scanner has a nice feature where it will scan your cars computer for the VIN code. I have another scanner that I've used and that will either detect the vehicle or ask you to manually put in the model. This scanner didn't find the VIN on my Matrix so I had to put it in manually (that was a pain). I figured out that I didn't have the ignition switch to the on position. The scanner never prompted me to do so. I thought that was odd.Anyway. I was able to pull the error codes off of my Matrix. The one function that I really liked is that you can send a vehicle diagnostic report to an email recipient. I sent one to myself and it looks great. The diagnostic functions for the 03 Matrix were about what I've seen with my other scanner. I hooked it up to my 2015 Toyota RAV4 and it pulled the VIN number right away. I turned the vehicle to the on position after I plugged it in this time. There were a number of more diagnostic items available for this vehicle. Probably because it's newer. The scanner comes with free upgrades and a number of downloadable options that are for an additional fee. I didn't really see anything additional that would apply to either of my vehicles. The display is easy to read. A bigger screen would be nice for those of us that fat finger the on display keyboard. The user interface was a little different from my other scanner. It took a while to figure it out.Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. The scanner does what I purchased it for. It reads codes and even gives you the option to get more information on any error codes that are set. It's got a built in web browser. It is run by an android OS. It's nice that it came with an actual paper copy of the owners manual. It does describe the functions pretty well. The quick start guide is a bare minimum of functionality. It's a good scanner.

The Second one I have ordered./Don,t buy. It was a complete failure./customer service
If rated on customer service alone it would be five star. The tool is more than a diy scanner. It is a tool that could be used in a professional shop. It would be very easy to get into trouble by not knowing what you are doing. That being said, investigate the specific problem and and this tool will more than likely find the problem. The bidirectional controls are fast and accurate. the special function testing is on the level of oe scanners. The ability to work with this tool is far beyond the price. Solve one trip to the dealer, the machine pays for itself. This is an edit on the machine. The machine is a great tool. The customer service is better. With the help of customer service I was able to use the functions of the scanner. I am not a pro and did not use everything. If there is a problem with this scanner, it is that it is equal to the high level professional scanners. If anyone is not sure of what to do with the scanner don't just push buttons to find out whatthis scanner was not even able to read a VIN number. the first could but did not meet expectation.I also have an old Creader 5001/3001 that was able to access all VIN information and run simple obd2 scans. The old Creader did a great job. I tried two new ones (431X) and sent them back. I am not sure what product I will be trying next, but I did try to find contact information on amazon, and was not able to locate the information. I wanted to contact them first before posting a negative review. I am a DIYer' I am curious about the oe level equipment, but with a lack of contact it is not likely that I will make the another try. It is not only the equipment I question, but also the customer service. (unable to contact through the amazon store. I am still considering the x431 elite pro. not sure of the product.Soon after the seller reached out to find a solution. They reached out to me. That is the mark of great customer service and wish I could just rate that aspect. They are 5 star in that department. I was ready to call it done. I agreed to try another one. They provided it and I was met with another fail. I went through the set up and updates all worked. the next morning restarted the tool and it powered on for a second or two. Then it shut down. the same situation with 10 attempts. I am confused by the product. Did the set up to include demo, then it would not work on 2nd power up. Attempted on three power sources. Not sure what I will do next.

Dead on arrival and USED
I could not get this to turn on, even after charging it. The device turned on when plugged into a power source or plugged into the vehicle otherwise it will not function. Also, when I turned it on, it was not the first time it has booted up. The initialization process had already been done, meaning, this was A USED unit. Likely returned for not turning on and they resold it. I had to factory reset the unit to start the initial setup. After some frustrating moments with things not working properly, factory reset, and attempting to update the unit, I FINALLY updated it. Plugged it into my car, and it finally could pull up some data. The user interface isn't really the greatest, and honestly feels pretty cheap. It feels more like $50 unit in my opinion.I'm going to try a couple of tests with it, but I'm 95% sure I'll be returning it and finding a better unit for the price, even if I have to spend more. Between receiving a dead and used unit that won't charge, poor UI, and somewhat slow processing, I don't really see myself keeping this unit.

Has saved me a lot of money
Originally bought for a Honda that software comes preloaded has most of the functions of a factory scan tool except much less expensive. Very easy to use works well has a lot of extra functions very durable has a database that gives you the definitions of codes and will even link you to repair videos for said codes. You can download additional software at a cost for different sets of vehicles The downloaded software will only be active for a year though. Frequent updates available and the original Honda/Acura software is yours to keep.
