You get used to it.
I've seen this on YouTube for awhile now and figured I'd give it a try after seeing the reviews on project farm, so after using it I can say, it works great but it takes a bit of use to get good at using it, my first instinct was to pull the spring too far back, that makes it hard to use and keep on target. This tool hits harder than you expect, after a bit of use you can keep good control of the way it works. It's handier than using a punch and a hammer.I definitely recommend giving it a try, I know I'm glad I did.

Best Counter Punch Product
Used for for Brad Nails. Had several counter punch products but this is the best one so far.

Great little tool
This item is a great little tool, easier than a traditional nail setter. Does not need the hammer at all. One side makes a divot to starts a nail/screw or just mark a drill hole, the other can be used to sink pin nails or finishing nails with out needing a hammer. Just hold the one side and pull and release the other. The spring causes an impact that does just the right amount of force.Only down side is you need to hold the one side firmly so it does not hop or skip when you are using it. This is likely user error though and just getting used to the tool. No more hitting you hand with the hammer.

Excellent for staking castle nuts
Got this to stake castle nuts on ARs. It works great and looks much nicer than I could ever do with a hammer and punch. Two whacks, maybe three is all you'll need and you can aim it perfectly. Highly suggest getting one for this purpose if you're considering it.

Much better than hammer/punch
I've had several of these over the years and the nail sets are indispensable. Once you get the methodology down, it's a thousand times better than trying to set nails the old fashioned way. I have three of these now and use the nail sets as door hinge pin removers too as the springed pin removers they sell reliably break after not much use, the pin head snaps off. So, these work just fine for that, no need to get that other spring set tool. Also, you have to be careful with pulling too much on the spring or off center of the tool or you can bend the spring off center. And fingers- try to keep your fingers off the spring when you have it pulled back. With that, like I said, not perfect, but indispensable if you set any amount of nails for a living.
