Great crossword puzzle book for medium hard

I absolutely love these puzzle books with the exception of the last 10 to 15 puzzles in each book.I believe that if you have to google an answer to a clue, because the answer is so obscure, the author of the puzzle has failed. To be fair, however, even the other 290 puzzles, and most puzzles, have some of this but generally you can get the answer by correctly filling in the puzzle around the obscure clue. The last 10 to 15 puzzles are the rule not the exception.Here's a classic from this group. The title of the puzzle is "Elements of Movie Making". The clue is "1979 George Hamilton Spoof." The answer, of course, is "Love At First Bite" Easy right?Not so fast. The answer is "Love Astatine First Bite." The author is using At as the chemical symbol for the elementAstatine perhaps the rarest of all earth's elements. I actually got the correct answer, after spending way to much time, and had no clue to what it meant until I re-read the title and figured out what he was doing.I threw the puzzle away. I personally know from memory very few chemical symbols and their corresponding names and looking up the answers defeats the whole purpose of a crossword puzzle.On the bright side the other 290 or so puzzles are challenging and fun and i will be buying the Simon and Schuster Mega Puzzles again!

I have been doing crossword puzzles since I was a child. I used to watch my Dad work crossword puzzles in the local newspaper way before computers and the internet. As I got older, my Dad and I would fight over who was going to work that one puzzle.I have been working crossword puzzles every day for decades. It is my go to activity every morning with my cup of coffee. I can honestly say that these books have some of the best puzzles that I have ever worked. They are medium to medium hard which I like because I don't get so frustrated solving them. I challenge myself by working them in ink. I do have my wite-out close by and I use crossword solver sites to help me.While I was browsing for other products, I happened by chance to see these crossword books. I didn't realize at the time that there is a series so I am going back and order the ones I don't have.I love the perforated pages and the superior quality of the paper. I hope Simon and Schuster continue to publish these Mega books. I would be really sad if they weren't available anymore. You can gain a wealth of information on alot of different subjects. For me, solving this level of difficulty sharpens my mind especially as I get older.Whether you are new to crossword puzzles or an avid fan like myself, you will have hours of enjoyment engaging in this age old pastime.

I have been purchasing these puzzle books for years, this is something like my 15th one. Not over the top difficult but makes you think a while to get some of them done. Honestly, my favorite feature and why I keep buying them is that the pages are perforated. I tear out a few of the puzzles and take them with me when I know I will have time to kill.

I am a crossword puzzle addict ( yes I am admitting this ) and I have purchased probably 4 of these. The best part is that you can remove the puzzle page. There are 2 puzzles on each page.Worth the money in my opinion.
