Xotic SP Compressor w/ 2 Cables

Top quality device. Not made in China, too. Compression is mild compared to other makes and models. But there are internal DIP switches for minor tweaking. No tone control or blend. This is a leave it on all the time pedal, controlled by guitar volume knob primarily to vary attack and sustain. I set the pedal volume slightly above unity, back off the guitar volume knob at the sweet spot, then max the guitar volume knob for a change in dynamics, fills, or solos. Uses both 9v battery or appropriate AC adapter; it's good having the option. The cables are a nice bonus, although they are cheap and MIC and should only be used in non-crucial situation such as when you are just sitting around noodling. I have the Xotic EP boost; another fine pedal that is in constant use. I will be purchasing their more full featured pedals now that my appetite has been whetted. I have experience with the AC Boost and will probably be going with that.

The pedal is wonderful. Simple to use and it doesn't take up a lot of space on the pedalboard. I usually keep it on the whole time and it really opened up my amp (EVH 5150III). The only issue i'm having right now is that I have a noisy pedal chain, but i'm thinking that it might be a power issue at home.

Can't ever go back to a cheaper compressor pedal after this one. The secret to make this one work for your needs is inside: 4 DIP switches, which are explained in the manual. Necessary to set your desired attack/release time, hi or low cut, then you'll just have to deal with adjusting sustain/compression and BLEND for your perfect tone. Cleans sound like striking glass! Not harsh, but VERY clear.

I do like this. not a really techie or pro musician with lots of equipment experience. this gave me additional tone options and clarity of tone and sustain. sound was subtly better. it can also sound BA enough on it's own to not need separate distortion effects all the time. gave more options. I like how small but substantial it is.

I used it on bass and I always thought it took a bit of girth from my sound, although it added clarity. I did adjust the settings inside a few times, but I still felt this is more of a guitar pedal, or for a bass player who really needs a compressor and has absolutely no space left on the pedalboard. But for guitar players, it's a great pedal.

I like this little hefty pedal, quality build, great sounding box. Works for me! That's all I have to say about this compressor pedal

It sounds really good and is very clear, transparent sounding. Not a whole lot of color, kind of opposite of something like, Dyna Comp. I love how it's compact but I wish those 4 switches inside were outside so it's more accessible.

Is the best compressor pedal i ever owned, its simplicity is its best attribute, i've had Boss CS-3 and Keeley electronics compressors, those are pretty good too, but the Xotic SP is one step ahead. I found in this little guy the sound i was looking for.
