Great Value
My Benchmade Bugout is in the shop for annual maintenance, so I decided to try this one out. Spyderco is a venerable brand for good reason. This edc is excellent for what it is. The steel is solid and sharper than most folks will ever need. It's a very good looking knife. The proportions look just right. It feels good in my fairly big left hand. The action is smooth, but I can't imagine it will ever be good enough to flick open, like my Bugout. The linerlock seems to be about as good as that technology can get. It has a two step close, with a noticeable detent at about 45°. That takes a little bit of getting used to, but I don't resent that safety feature. It's got enough heft that you'll never forget it's in your pocket, but not much more. The two position clip is elegant and effective. In all, this is a great value. It's a combination of lower-cost tech that makes a credible stab at the more expensive edc's. I'm glad I got this one.

It's a good knife.
It came very sharp. I like the way it fits in my hand. I didn't know it was a communist made knife or I might not have pulled the trigger on it. It's very stiff. I can't figet it yet. I haven't loosened the pivot screw yet. I hope it will ease into a very nice dialed in EDC. Two things; I know now what the deal is, and why Spydercos are so popular. Also, I ordered a Para 3 because of fit and quality of the off shore made knive.

OK for the price
Feels solid. Blade is sharp out of the box. Contour of the handle gets in the way of thumbing the blade open. Super stiff action prevents using a finger flick. Will have to break out the driver to make some adjustments and see how it stands up over time.

Great knife. But now I have 2 brands to collect dangit!
Looking at the pictures I thought the blade too wide for my tastes, and the handle seemed to dip in a bit much, like most spiderco's. I got it to try, and it's actually way more ergo than it looks in pics! The full grind makes for a very good cutter, having such a long acute bevel. The material is very grippy, and the knife's thin so doesn't print, and light so an easy carry. The clip isn't deep pocket as I prefer, but that's easy to fix.Handle is easy to hold, a really good size. Most impressive though is the smooth as silk action! For a mass produced affordable production knife, it's amazing! You can easily flick it open with a finger, or open with your thumb. Way easier than it looks in pics!Highly recommend, but now I have to look at spiderco's AND benchmades all the time, my wallet's groaning :)

Not perfect for Southpaws
This is a really nice knife. The steel isn't the greatest, but its sharp and not too bad for the price, but in the end, I returned it.I'm left handed; the shape of the scales are different on each side, making it easier to close the knife, but harder to open it because less of the spydy-hole is exposed to the left thumb.I've tried many different configurations and this design is second best for me. First place goes to the back lock knifes. This is just one southpaw's opinion. In the end, I found that I preferred the Cold Steel TuffLite. I could also buy two of those Taiwan made knives for the cost of this China made knife. If you have a little extra coin, the Spyderco Native 5 is a perfect southpaw knife. A few steps above the TuffLite and made in the US with better steel.

Young knife having a major issue already
Really liked this knife, but when in use it’s folding in on itself. It’s basically half a year old with minimal use and I’m having a pretty critical issue with this tool.Like how it looks and feels, but this I didn’t anticipate needing to contact support so soon after buying…Update: to send this in for warranty evaluation, you need to pay to have it shipped and then pay to have it shipped back. This is approx. 1/3 the total price of the knife. Definitely regretting this purchase. Will not be buying again.

A great little knife
The knife is exactly what one would expect from Spyderco: sturdy and well-made, and if you maintain it, it'll last a very long time. The steel (8cr13mov) isn't the fanciest steel out there, but my experience with both this and a Tenacious made from the same stuff is that its edge retention is a lot better than you might imagine, given the way people talk about it online. Yes, you will need to resharpen it fairly regularly, but you'll need to do the same with any steel, and this one happens to be a very easy steel to get razor-sharp. I would guess that it all comes down to the heat-treatment during manufacture and the way you treat it as a user. If you know how to sharpen and maintain a knife, there's nothing wrong with this steel, and you ought to get many years--even decades--of use out of it.
