bad reviews prevented me from getting this 2 years ago
I'm with the other reviewer that said bad reviews need to stop. I was in bad shape 2 years ago living with family that didn't like to run the AC and we live in AZ plus I'm in that age of hormone imbalance. I was so excited to see this and then read the reviews and continued suffering. Fast forward to 2020 and my AC went out. I have a mini dauchsund and it is really hard on her. I immediately said I don't want to be in this spot ever again I have to buy something. Again I am back looking at these reviews but this time focused on the good ones and thought I will return if I don't like it. To be clear my AC was fixed the next day but I decided to run it a little less cold so that it don't freeze up on me or go out again. I have it at 78 and my room has a lot of windows so it's either hot or cold and 78 is sometimes warm to me especially at night. Well around 3 pm I froze my filter and added ice and water to it. I wouldn't call it freezing but definitely a very cool breeze. I did seem to melt fairly quickly and then it wasn't as cold but in a while I still ended up turning it down from high to low as it was making my throat feel weird. For the night, I filled it up one more time with a ton of ice and water to the brim and ran it on high. I began to get cold and turned it down to low. When the Ice melts it does change to what I consider a swamp cooler feel. I can feel the moistness. I ended up turning it off for the night as I was too cold. Sometime in the night I was getting warmer and turned it back on low and ran until morning where I turned it off again. There is no ice and slight amount of water left but I'm very pleased with the help of my arctic air. I doubt this would function as an AC but if I'm ever without air I feel this would be a great help until it's back on again. I love it!

Terrible support! Loud, but good cooling; Super Cheap Plastic, Broke Upon arrival
Newset update - the were suppose to send me a new one since they sent me a broken one. It was on it's way and then they cancelled it, leaving me with the broken one. Do not but from this seller in case you get a broken one. They will leave you hanging. This thing has good cooling power when you are close by. It was almost exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't expecting a high powered cooling device, which this is not. It does more than a fan but less than a window unit. There is only one problem. The thing is super loud. On the lowest setting, it can be heard all the way across my side of the office floor. If they could lower the sound output, this thing would be golden. Even if you are at home, the problem is you have to be close to it, so it'll still be loud.I put it at three stars as amazon is switching this out for me due to the broken piece. I debating between 3 and 4 stars depending on the noise.Hopefully, I'll be able to update this thing soon. It does alright for a cooler up close, but I haven't been able to test it a ton yet. Usually I wait to test a product more to write a review, but a plastic piece in the front just fell out and I saw the smallest nub where it's suppose to connect. Super cheap plastic. I'm going to plan on keeping this if they send me a new one as I expect there shouldn't be two defected products in a row.

works well as far as blowing cold air goes, but it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to clean!
I've now bought and thrown away 2 Arctic Air AC portable units over the last 2 years. It did a nice job blowing cold air both summers, although it is not well constructed from a common sense standpoint, because you can't remove the lid at all to clean it. Despite my best efforts to clean it with a brush angled in, the unit is so awkwardly shaped and there's no way to take the lid off so that you can't reach in to clean it and mold grew within it. I then accidentally broke the top trying to get at the inside of this last unit, so unfortunately will have to find something else and this thing only made it through 1 full season. It's super important to be able to clean something that filters the air like this item, so it's imperative that the engineering of this product includes a way to easily remove the lid to clean it. That seems like a relatively easy fix, so hopefully the company can incorporate that feedback into future iterations of the product. Thanks.

I bought before reading the reviews and was worried...
After I purchased the unit I decided to read some reviews as I was still unsure. A lot of the reviews had me nervous I just wasted my money. Especially since I'm in Florida no where near what you call dry air. I have an office that is at the furthest end of my house and we added it on. So I've relied on fans blowing air from the house into my office.I did read that you're supposed to freeze the filter and I never got around to that part (kid w a new toy) so this is based on just ice water with some ice and I wet the filter with the same ice water. I actually keep a digital Humidity and Temp at my desk that tells me inside and outside humidity and temperature. I'm not going to try and tell you the whole office dropped by degrees or anything but the space I work in dropped by 2 degrees or less and its blowing on me from about 5 feet behind me aimed at my desk which is facing a corner against the wall.Tonight I will freeze the filter since I didn't have the patience to do that today lol. Overall, it does EXACTLY what it says it does, tho it only lowered the temp by 2 degrees, the feeling of the air was I'd say between 8-15 degrees better on my skin versus a normal fan. Its over all a good buy for the price. Hope this helps.
