Raiden IV
RaidenIV is one of those games you can easily remember or forget as a railshooter of the 90's trying to continue to keep its name as a ongoing classic. But needless to say it holds up to its content and excitement and addictiveness for any player who loves botton mashing, intense eye coordinated motion that leaves you dieing to get through the array of ships and massive bosses that light up the screen filled with energy balls seeming impossible to dodge. Since the release of many spinoffs in consoles RaidenIV holds true to its core design and enhances it with dazzling fire power and precison controls and imensed 3D backdrops to give you a nice HD environmental depth. The Stages are intensely more difficult after stage 1 wich is a big jump from the previous versions released. And the enemy ships and tanks are increased in numbers to give you more intesity to shoot more accurately or dodge faster. The bosses where futuristicly redesigned to look mmore like a sci-fi mecha horror B movie look, but given multiple stage transformations leaving you to drop more bombs than normal to protect yourself from a intense field of energy weapon spray you can not dodge. The game gives you a ample amount of bombs to collect or you can set up the settings to carry a maximum amount of 7.Overall this game being hard to find or get in local retailers lives up to his name and game play. The AI is stream lined to kill you with all weapons blazing so you better know how to keep your eyes peeled on your ship, becuase if you blink your dead. The bosses are 3x more difficult to defeat and come with multiple stages so make sure you set yur game settings to maximum weapon payload. The only con i have towards the game is screen layout. the verticle screen design with custom borders is quite annoying to me when your use to wide or full screen gaming that fills the screen or your HDtv. But once you start playing you soon forget about the annoyance and try to keep your eyes trained in the center... any other eye direction will get your ship decimated.

Classic SHMUP with a modern twist
The Raiden series has always been interesting as each numbered sequel (I'm not including the Raiden Fighters Series) has pretty much been a slight tweak on the original game. The level graphics and enemy patterns differ from game to game, but the bosses are almost identical. Raiden 4 is no different and you'll notice from the moment you pop in the disk that this is just an updated version of the game you know and love. I have marked down the overall score for this as some may argue that this repetition diminishes the game's value, but as a fan of the series it is something I have come to expect. The graphics are great and runs wonderful on the XBOX 360 hardware and looks even better if you can turn your TV on its side and play in TATE mode. No online multi-player for those that are wondering (local only) but that is ok as even the slightest hint of lag would lead to instant death in a game like this. However Raiden IV does have online leaderboards allowing me to relive my glory days of fighting to get the highest score in the arcade. In fact you can also download the replays from the top players to see just how they rack up those high numbers. All in all I found this game to be a great purchase and was worth every penny spent on it. The game was ported with much tender loving care, much more than has been afforded other games in the genre, plus since the game is disc-based I have 1000 gamerpoints to unlock.Highly recommended!

Just like your favorite pair of slippers.
Ahhh Raiden, the game that never changes. In any other realm that would be a diss, but for Raiden it's the supreme compliment. Accessible to all but tough as nails, this is what drew me to those arcade machines all those years ago. Even today this incarnation constantly has me saying "one more run, one more run", to me that's the mark of a great arcade game. The music is weaker than previous titles but that's no biggie. My biggest gripe is that the visual options/settings suck.I'm giving this 4 stars because Raiden Fighters Aces is a better game with better options and it simply shouldn't be. Oh, and the fact that they're actually trying to charge me for different colored planes as DLC when old school Raiden games had over 10 distinct choices of ships from the jump - tsk, tsk! This is still a great title if you're a shooter fan, though. Raiden IV is old school arcade action at it's purest, take it or leave it.

AWESOME!!
Man I have loved old school shooter or shump games since I was a little kid growing up in the 80's and 90's.The Raiden series has been one of the best of them. This version is pretty good graphic, sound, and playplay wise.If your looking for a good old nostalgic game to take you back to the good old days of arcades, malls, playing arcade games with your best friend physically by your side while you wait for the movie your going to watch at the local movie theater, then pick you up a copy.

Very Balanced Shoot'em'up
I have been waiting for this game ever since it came out in the arcades in 2007 and it was worth the wait. I have been a big fan of shoot'em'ups since I could first pick up a controller and Raiden IV is the best shoot'em'up I have played in a long time. First of all the game is very balanced and is pretty easy for a beginner to pick up and play. Secondly the more you play the more continues you earn which encourages you to improve your skill. Raiden IV is not like most other so called, "Bullet Hell" shooters that saturate shoot'em'up market today which makes this game a lot easier, However bosses tend to put up a huge fight by sending bullets across the screen which may remind you of a bullet hell shooter. This game is also 2 player co-op which makes this game even better. All in all this game is worth the price and is worth playing if you like shoot'em'ups.

A Super 360 SHMUP
Bought it on a lark and it is SO good. Fantastic graphics, addictive, old-school, arcade style gameplay, and a really affordable price for a somewhat obscure game. Check it and the seller's other stock out if your looking for a great 360 game.
