Norpro, black Nonstick Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Scoop, 7in/18cm

I have now owned this ice cream scoop for over a year. It is still in pristine condition and works beautifully. Per the instructions, I always hand wash this item. I usually do it right after using it so that it will be ready to go next time I want a scoop (or three) of ice cream. The antifreeze component works exceptionally well. I remember being astounded at how effective it was on my first use after coming from a standard metal scoop. I had actually broken the handle off of my previous scoop trying to get a scoop out of a fairly hard block of ice cream. This one digs through hard and solid blocks of ice cream as though it were heated. The ice cream drops right off and into your bowl without sticking to the scoop. If something were to happen to this scoop, I would buy another one in an instant. We have had no chipping or flaking on the scoop, the liquid interior is still intact and working just as well as it did a year ago. If you've never tried an anti-freeze ice cream scoop, you are missing out!

This is one of those rare items where cheaper mean better. Whoever designed this scoop is a genius.Pros:-Given the price and the picture you will think it's made out of plastic... Well it's not, it's made of some metal.- if your freezer is too cold, don't worry, this scoop is sturdy enough and the edges are thin enough to be able to get a good scoop of an almost rock solid ice cream without effort.-The blackish color comes from a nonstick coating very similar to those found on frying pans. So it really is slippery and the ice cream just falls off on it's own just by inclining the scoop and letting gravity take over.- This thing is amazing, it not only works better than most but this scoop is also less expensive than most. Sometimes around half the price.Cons:None unless you don't want it to be black.Other thoughts:I don't know if it's really filled with anti-freeze liquid and how much marketing is involved into that statement, but I don't really care since it works like a charm. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

I got this as a back up for when my main ice cream scoop is dirty but this is actually so much better it has become the main one. The scoops are a bit smaller which I actually like but it scoops and releases the ice cream so well - I am actually considering buying a second one and putting the other one in my donation pile. I know it is weird to be this excited about an ice cream scoop but it is just so good and easy to use and it is so rare to find something that really just does what it should so well these days.

Like many others in the reviews here, I ended up with this because I was tired of rust or plating falling off of the other scoops I've had in the past. I thought this would be worth a shot.I won't say i slices through anything like a hot knife in butter, but it does work well. Should be less of a threat of peeling or pitting, and ultimately that was my goal here, but others have reported it so we'll see how this holds up over time.The liquid inside may or may not be the reason, but this DOES cut through the icecream better than my old pitted metal scoop. Much easier, far less resistance, balls the ice cream up well and it falls right out. No pushing it against the side of the bowl to get it to drop out of the scoop.Cleans very easy and scoops better than anything else I've used, and shouldn't come apart - all that for an insanely cheap price. Can't beat that.

I got tired of putting the Ice Cream in the microwave for 5-10 seconds so I could get a spoon to slide in. I like ice cream cones so when the ice cream is hard, and you push it down on the cone, usually the force causes the fresh cone to break causing me to become upset.I decided to type in ice cream scooper one evening while on Amazon, and I came across the Norpro Nonstick Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Scooper. This thing REALLY WORKS!!! I took the strawberry ice cream out of the freezer which was in there for about a week in the back never opened, and I said here goes nothing, and I push down on the ice cream with this scooper using the same amount of force I normally would with a spoon, and this thing SLICED RIGHT THROUGH the hard frozen ice cream. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!I TOTALLY recommend this to EVERYONE! For six bucks you can't go wrong. No more bending spoons, no more microwaving the ice cream which causes it to become TOO SOFT making it more of a pain to handle. Just buy this thing, it's SO WORTH IT!

For years I've used those old-fashioned metal ice cream scoops with the trigger that releases the scoop. They've worked OK, but aren't as easy as I'd like.I finally decided to buy a better ice cream scoop and opted for the Norpro Nonstick Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Scoop after researching scoops.After a year of use, I've not been disappointed in the Norpro scoop. Although I have to say I wasn't impressed by it when I first looked at it, I have been very happily surprised by how well this scoop works. Ice cream scoops easily and releases just as easily, scoop after scoop.You do have to hand wash this scoop - the instructions stress not to put it in the dishwasher, but hand washing hasn't been a chore.I would definitely recommend this scoop to ice cream lovers.

My dad had a very similar ice cream scoop and I looked in stores everywhere to find one. I finally found this on Amazon and love it. Unlike my dad's scoop this one is teflon coated so clean up is a breeze. It scoops through even the hardest frozen ice creams with ease. I would highly recommend this scoop to others.UPDATE: It has been a little over ten years since I purchased this Teflon coated ice cream scoop and I am happy to report that it works as well as it did when I first ordered it. There isn't a single issue with the Teflon coating even after all of these years. It still glides smoothly through ice cream and I couldn't be happier with it. This ten year update is proof positive that this is a quality made product. Kudos Norpro!
