It worked right out the box once i put batteries in. I calibrated it and began testing the stones i had intended to once i purchased this. I used the gem tester 2 and another cheap diamond tester to triple verify the results and was pleasantly pleased with them. I mustve tested a few larger diamonds at least a few dozen times and everytime its results were the same. I did notice the moissanite and diamond discrepancies a few times that the reviews people were leaving were happening but only when the batteries were running low so i replaced the batteries , which drained fairly quick , and it began testing diamond again. Not sure how to understand the simulated section quite yet but will continue to do some research to help identify lab diamonds hopefully in the simulated section.

It's not the vendors fault, but the thing arrives and after setting everything up, it just blinks and never goes into the ready mode. I try to calibrate it and it wouldn't go into calibration mode. When I finally swapped it out, I found out that the newer lab diamonds and moissanites may not test accurately using this. Now I have to figure out how to get the other tester. From the 20 stones that I have, more than half of them flip floped between moissanite and diamond.

Presidium Adamas is a well known brand in the jewelry industry. It has other great and reliable products, but not with this one. At least the unit I received. The build quality is cheap. Battery cover never secure and I had to tape the cover to keep it in place. For paying over $300 I expect very accurate reading. However this unit gave different readings for the same stones!It was unreliable for me.

It's a great looking tool, it comes packaged like it's some presidential gift, and it works impossibly amazing and quick with super easy to understand visual and audio results. I purchased the same one that the better pawn and jewelry buyers use, but it couldn't tell the difference between diamonds and moissanite and would also sometimes give inaccurate readings with other simulant stones. I almost threw away a couple 1 ct diamonds that the other reader read incorrectly. (that I purchased being told that they were fake when purchasing the jewelry for the gold scrap) fortunately I got this tester before I tossed the bulk of "fake" stones and caught the mistake. I still didnt trust the reading because I was told by the seller that they were fake, so I had them tested through center street gold and silver, (who sent them to someone they work with) and i in turn made $4,500 on the diamonds that i would've thrown away had i not gotten this tester! I cant say how happy I am with this tool! Now I've just gotta figure out what to do with the damn GemOro that I bought 1st!

Best diamond tester ever!It test the difference between a diamond and a Masonite!

Item is defective. It’s inaccurate and gives false positives as well as false negatives.I purchased a Moissanite earring set and a Moissanite ring in order to test this unit. This consistently tests the Moissanite items as Diamond. When I attempt to calibrate the unit with the Moissanite ring/earring, it will test the real diamonds as either diamond or Moissanite. It’s inconsistent and after a few tests reverted back to testing the Moissanite as a Diamond. Disappointed and returning.

This tester saved me from making a costly mistake. I had ordered a custom emerald pendant with small diamonds all around it. As I checked the diamonds, I found 5 moissanite and 3 white sapphires. I am sure the jeweler was not prepared for me to come in and check the work in front of him. In the one transaction, the tester has already paid for itself as far as I am concerned. Just a way of keeping people honest.
