Would you say it is safe to put 2 headphones on one hook?

I would it say it would definitely be able to hold the weight. It may be a bit difficult to hang them on there without overlapping.

What is this clamp made of ? Plastic ?

Yes the whole thing is plastic other than the sponge pad in the clamp to keep it gripped to the desk without scratching.

Does anyone know how wide the clamp opens?

Good hanger for my newly bought headphone, although I am not sure how long the spring mechanisms will be in perfect working condition. Still an awesome product for the price. Better to have this hanging from a wall rack, than buying a stand for headphone that would take up desptop space.
