If you ONLY want to know when you have a dangerous level of CO, then this is the one for you.
So I originally bought this SAME exact CO detector/alarm from Amazon back in December 2017. (The little Amazon tag came up telling me when I last purchased it.) I am still using it. It is actually sitting on the chest of drawers in one of my bedrooms. It appears to be working well. I haven't needed to change the batteries yet (in almost 2 years), and it has never alarmed. But I want to share something I learned after purchasing 4 different "retail" CO detector/alarms (so that I had different ones if one didn't work as it was designed). All of these "retail" alarms readily available at most retail brick and mortar stores and online stores (like Amazon), only alarm you once levels are dangerously high (like you need to evacuate the house now, high). They do not show you if you have low levels of CO over many months (which is equally dangerous as ONE high instance). They will again only alarm once it is at the dangerous level.I am NOT saying NOT to get these. Because obviously having a CO alarm is definitely needed ... and this is better than no CO alarm at all. Instead, I am saying if you are looking for a device that MONITORS and displays CO levels as low as 5ppm (versus the 30ppm), I highly recommend the Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor-Alarm.Because we have older gas heaters, I purchased 2 of the Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor-Alarms (each one mounted in a hallway close to the heating units). They are significantly more expensive (@ $160/each) and they only have about a 3-year life. However, for those with compromised immune systems, babies, seniors, other health issues, and pets, it is important to know if you have a low-level CO leak. Exposure to low levels of CO over time is also very dangerous. I was told some times when older heating units start to fail, they can start leaking CO. In any case, I feel better having the Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor-Alarms. I also still have all of the "retail" alarms in each of the bedrooms, because they do serve an important function. I just thought it was important to know that these "retail" devices are only high level CO alarms ... not low level CO monitors.

This device saved my 4 kids lives and mine
Saved me and my 4 kids lives! I bought this as a backup for my expensive 200 dollar one that connected to my home alarm system. I bought it because I was going to put it upstairs by the heater. Well it went off in the middle of the night and we left the house and called the police. They showed up and tested us, we had to be given oxygen from hospital! Myself and the baby (1 year) had the highest levels and needed treatment. This device saved my 4 kids lives and mine. I do not think 5 stars are enough.

Flawed/poorly designed battery door latch -- it WILL break.
I bought three of these battery powered detectors since I didn't want to put in additional wiring to have the needed protection. One of the features I liked was that the battery compartment on the front side allowing for an easier battery change. Since I am very cautious and deliberate, I took them out of the package, and read the directions twice so I would understand the features and installation. Upon opening the compartment to insert the needed batteries, I broke the latching mechanism on all three alarms. The latching mechanism is very thin, fragile, and quite frankly, poorly designed. For all the good features on the detector it is ruined by this flawed latch. If there is a design engineer at the manufacturing company, he or she must have had a REALLY bad day. I am now going to "fix" the problem with some Velcro tape to keep the battery door closed. If I can figure this out why can't the company do this too, before selling them. As far as their usefulness or effectiveness, I haven't even got around to putting them up. Too busy trying to correct the manufacturing company's error. Will make another post after installation and testing.

It works and saved my life
Your product save my life tonight and my dogs!! I bought two combo ones off Amazon and they didn’t even go off!! Yours woke me both with audible alarm and audible speech warning me of gas! I could barely get up but I did and grabbed my dog an made it outside to safety until FD arrived. They confirmed a gas leak from my heater.I urge anyone wanting peace of mind to buy this product . FD said if I hadn’t have had this alarm tomorrow’s call may have very well been different ..!
