It can work, but it's really made for children. I sit there with my kids but I would not buy it for adults.

Is this the same table Costco used to sell?

Yes, it is a different shape but same mechanics and load limits as the one at Costco. I have purchased one at Costco some time ago to take camping with the grandkids and now I purchased one for my grandkids and they love it. Folds flat like the old one. I would recommend purchasing.
