Cartooning: The Ultimate Character Design Book Paperback – Illustrated, May 6, 2008

I have several of Chris Hart's books and am pleased with all of them. This one is my fave! It is a very comprehensive book that takes you through the process of drawing cartoons. While a beginner could get decent results, I think this book is more for those with some drawing experience. These are more like guidelines for drawing cartoons and not a step-by-step tutorial. You will find people and animals in this book along with different environments to put your characters in. He also includes ideas for drawing shoes, hands, eyes, mouths and a lot of other things. It's a great book for those with some drawing experience and a good book for beginners to work up to.

Beautifully done book. I like the size of the page, very easy to read and follow along. Great tips and techniques! Especially the section about character postures. Nice work!

There are two important parts to this instruction manual. On is...How to get the right anatomic proportions in male and female figures at various ages. The other is the various ways to create expressions that need no words to understand the emotions.

This book is amazing!!I laughed my way thru it,later i'll go back and use the tips.This is highly recommended for any budding artist.I find myself hungry for more caricatures !!3

Such a great guide! Amazing book. My 10 and 13 year old love drawing from it as does their mother (me). Clear, simple instructions, easy to follow, love the specific sections on faces, bodies, kids, teens, and adults. We just bought another book by the author.

A little disappointed, not much on ideal of character design, still interesting reference guide and a good section on hands.

I really like the style Chris draws in. This book is easy to copy the characters that are in it. .
